Benefits query for settlement visa

Post by saminkhan » Sun Mar 14, 2010 11:12 am

Hi,

My sister is preparing for settlement application for her husband. She was on benefits but has just started full time work (at 18K pa) and informed benefit office about that. They stopped the income support but started working tax credit and child tax credit (for her child from previous marriage). Child benefit is already there and doesnt stop even if you are working. I have the following queries:

- Would it have any impact on her husband's settlement application if she is getting working tax credit and child tax credit.
- If yes, can she stop the benefits as it is not very clear at the moment. Looking at other posts on the forum and my previous experience i am still not comfortable with them. Any advice will be helpful.
- I presume child benfit will continue in any case as it is not for the mother but the child. Any comments and any impact on the application.
- At the moment we are 4 people living in a three bed house and there is space for her husband. Do i need to include her name into the lease agreement for her to use that as accomodation evidence.

Thanks

Samin

Well my advise would be to stop benefits until her husband gets visa.
As I know child tax credit is allowed. Not sure about work tax credit.I belive not allowed.

As for accommodation 5 people are allowed in 3 bed room house. She needs owner permission letter+property inspection report+house picture+council tax bill+property title plan and deeds.

Working Tax Credits and Child Tax Credits ARE allowed.

You'll need to provide proof accomodation is suitable, be it pictures, floorplan etc, but better to get a housing report from council or an estate agent.
