Bill C-37 help. Am I a citizen?

Post by tagaiz » Sun Apr 19, 2009 10:22 pm

Here's the back story you need to know:

My dads parents moved to Canada from Hungary and had my dad. All of them became Canadian citizens. They moved to the US sometime before 1977 when my dad was a kid. They all gave up Canadian and got US citizenship. I was born to my dad when he was a US citizen. As of the 17th as I understand my dad has gotten his citizenship back. However I'm having trouble understanding whether I've received citizenship in this. On this link http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/department ... 12-10b.asp question number 6 seems very similar to my situation and it seems like I've gained citizenship, however I'm getting conflicting info. Please help me understand whether I'm a citizen.

If your father was born in Canada then you probably became a Canadian citizen on 17th April.

But you should answer the questions in post #2.

Also, you say they "gave up" Canadian citizenship. What exactly did they do to "give up" their Canadian citizenship?
