BRC/ EU Settlement Scheme

Post by Megi_Lo » Wed Apr 22, 2020 3:49 pm

Hello, It's my first time posting here and need your advice.
My case is the following.
Currently, I have an entry clearance visa named: EU settlement scheme family permit visa for the UK (duration 6 months), and it expires in August. I am from Georgia (not EEA national), and my husband is a Greek citizen. He has already the pre-settled UK Status. I would like to extend my stay in the UK and apply for the pre-Settled status. The document that I have with me is my Georgian Passport.
By now, I am informed that I can either:
Option - 1
Use the EU Exit: ID Document Check app (available on idiot-phone 7 or above or Android) to scan the document and send the photo. (As a non-EU family member, I must have a UK issued biometric residence card to verify your ID using the app),

Option - 2
Send the document by post, and upload the photo using the online application. (now this option is suspended because the home office is not accepting applications due to COVID-19).

Practically, I can't use any of the options because I don't have a biometric residence card and the Home Office is not accepting applications as the official GOV.UK site has announced till further notice.

When things hopefully get soon back to normal, which option is better for me to choose? Will I need to have a biometric residence card either way in the future, and must I apply for it so I can travel in my country? Or is much faster the 2ond option and no need for a biometric residence card in the future?
Could you provide please with more information and the process about the second option? I couldn't find what documents do I need to send to the Home Office by Post (GOV.UK is not providing further information and is not showing the relevant website, preventing the users from applying due to COVID-19).
How long does it take to process each option?
And last one, most worrying, are you able to say if my visa will be automatically extended after the expiration date (12 August) so I can be eligible for applying under the EU Settlement Scheme? Would be given enough tolerated time from completing the Settlement application till obtaining it? Are there any steps I should take to receive the visa extension?

Thank you very much, I am looking forward to hearing from you!
