Hiya everyone,
I apologise for the long post. I just want to give a complete picture. I would appreciate any advice you can give, and i will be happy to post the outcome of the visa too so that others can learn from my experience.
For the past few weeks ive been reading a lot of information from embassays, government websites, and other forums and ive found a lot of contradicting things especially relating to finances. I decided i was going to post my entire story so that i can get some feedback to what u think the chances of a successful spouse visa wil be:-
I am a 22 year old medical student in the UK, in my final year of study and i should graduate in June after my last exams and my Fiancee is a 23 year old chinese girl who lives in china and is a chinese citizen who is doing some postgraduate study )she already has her medical degree). I plan to go and marry her after i finish my degree (at the end of june), and then the week after to submit our application for a settlement visa. We intened to get her to practice medicine within the UK and she is studying for the aditional tests that she will take after she arrives. I should also mention she has excellent English and will have taken the IELTS test before we apply.
We met last June when i was doing my medical elective in china and things progressed from there, i spent 2 months in china with her, I then returned to spend Christmas with her, and i am going to spend a couple of weeks in easter with her too in April before returning in June to marry her. (I am sure its what i want to do, we are aware it s fast but we believe it is the right decision for us). We have photos , and i have plane tickets from all these trips to show our realtionship, we talk every day on instant messenger and she has all the logs of this too.
We wish to apply for a settlement visa straight after we have married so that she can come join me in the UK ASAP and of course the Visa application is what is stressing. Its a lot of money for an application they could refuse and so i want to make it as strong as it can be.
1) Does it matter thats is so soon after being married ?
We would have left it longer but i will be working as a doctor from august and it is almost impossible to get more tan 1 week off at any one time making it hard to visit her. Also for her to apply for a Doctors job she could really needs a visa for the UK before september, or it will delay her by 12 months and she would need to do extra expensive exams (to do with how the recruitment of junior doctors works in the UK)
The next part that most people have worries about is maintanance and accomodation. I wont have any wages paid in at the time of application because my job does not start until 1st August, however i will have a letter of job offer, hopefully including my salary (which will be about £32,000 a year (before tax) with a takehome pay of £2000 a month).
2) Will they accept a Job offer as proof of income?
To get on my feet my mum is looking at taking a loan to give me a good start, we are talking about giving me £10,000 to use as savings to start renting a flat and things before i start work. I plan to pay her back over the next few years, if i can , i dont like taking handouts. My personal bank account is just in its overdraft as all students live .. i can use the savings to make the balance positive to show my mums contribution ,
3) Will they accept this to cover us until my job starts? Should i write a letter to explain that my Mum has given me the money to start my career? Will they accept this or see it as dodgy? That is what scares me.
If i need to show some regular income my parents are willing to fill in a sponsor form and provide their tax statements and payslips for the previous six months,
4) Should i put this in too .. or will it be negative to have too many different things all saying we wil support her.
As for accomodation , orignally i was going to get My Fiancee to come and live in my parents house while we chose a flat we both liked, however with the savings my mum will give me i can get a flat rented and 12 month contract agreed and signed and submit that with our application too.
5) Would that make the application stronger than staying at my parents house?
I just want to give it the best chance i can , as i am sure you all understand this thing is a nightmare to go through applying.
One final questions i can think of right now ,
6)do all the documents i submit need to be signed by a british solicitor? (even more money to spend.. )
Any information or advice about the possible strength of this application would be appreciated
Many Thanks
