British Citizenship application form information

Post by imhelp » Sat Mar 29, 2025 11:41 pm

Hi All,

Good morning.
I have few question related to BC application form.
I am creating single application for adult and kids( Born outside UK) and have few questions.
Please help me to know the answers, it will be great help.

1:- Is it possible to have same referee for Adults and Kids? or it must be teacher/social worker...in case of kids

2:-For kids document, there is a consent letter from their legal parents. If the adult applicant is the legal parents what document should he provide as a consent letter?

3:-Is there any way to provide referee verification online? not via downloading the referee form , pasting the picture and physically signing and uploading? Is there anyoption to do sharecode authentication?

4:- Does it require to provide all the visa applications made till date BC application? in case you don't remember?

Please let me know the answers to these queries , it will be a great help.

Thanks and Regards,

They can be the same a s long as they respect referee requirements

2:-For kids document, there is a consent letter from their legal parents. If the adult applicant is the legal parents what document should he provide as a consent letter? You can use relevant parts of sectoon 7 here for a template https://assets.publishing.service.gov.u ... 1-2025.pdf

3:-Is there any way to provide referee verification online? not via downloading the referee form , pasting the picture and physically signing and uploading? Is there anyoption to do sharecode authentication? No share code authentication. Simply send the form via email vith your name and picture to be signed and sent back to you. This can all be done digitally as long as the signature is consistent with what appears on the passport.

4:- Does it require to provide all the visa applications made till date BC application? in case you don't remember? Provide as much detail as you can. it won't affect your statutory requirements if you don't

Please let me know the answers to these queries , it will be a great help.

Hi Contorted_svy,

Thanks a lot for your kind reply and forwarded me the link for the consent form.
I have a question, I have filled the Father and Mother's consent.
The same form mentioned about Guardian's consent.
Who can be Guardian? Mother or Father name can be put in this Guardian section.

Please let me know.
Thanks and Regards,

Guardian is for someone who is officially appointed to be a guardian, normally by a court.
If parents are present then guardian section is not applicable.

Hi alterhase58 and All,

Thanks a lot for your kind reply.
I have a small doubt about this question mentioned below.

Q-If you do not meet the statutory requirements to No become a British citizen, are there any special circumstances why you think the Home Secretary should still grant your application?

I am meting all the statutory requirement Like(No of days stay in uk, life in UK, ILR). Please let me know what should I mention for this question.

Thanks in advance

Hi All,

Good morning.
Sorry for one more query.
I am applying BC in the same application
1:-I have added my wife(18+), My daughter(12 yrs), my son(5 yrs). All are in the same application.
Please let me know if It is ok or Do I need to make separate application for my wife because of age.

2:- If I add my wife in the same application, The question pop up
Is this because they are not able to complete the No
application themselves?
I don't understand it. Is it related to health? I mentioned it "no" as there is no health issue.
Please let me know if it is ok
Thanks & Regards,

Wasn't aware there is a health question in the application.
However, it's not a problem, it doesn't apply, and you have answered correctly.
The system is designed to allow applications for multiple person, there's no requirement for separate applications.

I answered this already ….

To repeat, it is not an issue.
All applicants can be included on the one application irrespective of age.

Or am I missing something?

Once you pay for your application you will need to book a biometrics appointment. the portal will then enable you to upload your documents (no need to send originals, only scanned copies).

Hi contorted_svy and All,

Thanks a lot for your kind reply.
Sorry if I was not clear while putting my question.
I have submitted all my documents on the 3rd party portal TLSconnect.
I have gone through the Biometric process as well through booking the appointment using the same portal.
My query is how I will get to know if all processes from my side are completed. Will I get any acknowledgement email from the Home office that they have received the application?
Is there any way to check the status of the application?

Please let me know it will be a great help.
Thanks & Regards,

You may get an email from TLS or UKVI. This tends to be hit and miss, sometimes it takes ages to receive an email, some applicants never received one.
There’s no facility to check application status or progress. And you don’t get updates. The UKVI target is 6 months, often they are faster, sometimes it takes longer.
