I was granted ILR in 2013 and my BRP (which I've had for almost 10 years) says "Valid Until 10 April 2023".
I'm in the process of applying for citizenship but am concerned by the note on page 10 of Guide AN (link below) which states:
Applications for citizenship take several months (based on timelines on here) so it's likely I won't be able to attend the ceremony until after my BRP has expired.... a nationality application does not provide any immigration status while
it is being considered. You must ensure you have valid permission to stay in the UK
until you have had a decision on your application and attended your citizenship
ceremony.
My question is: should I renew my BRP before applying for citizenship to avoid it expiring before I get my citizenship application result?
Or does it not matter if my BRP expires whilst waiting to get my result because my ILR is still valid regardless of BRP expiry?
Am very confused about the BRP expiry date and how it relates to ILR status.
Any replies would be hugely appreciated!
