British citizenship for EU citizen married to Brit

Hi, could anyone clarify for me how long it takes to be able to apply for British Citizenship for a Spanish citizen who is married to a British citizen? In July this year we will have lived in the UK for 3 years. We are not sure if we can apply after 3 years or we have to get settled status first.

Any help would be appreciated.

As an EU citizen, you require PR first or Settled status' first. That takes 5 years.
