British citizenship if married to British citizen

Post by UMR2484 » Thu May 14, 2026 9:46 pm

I have a question about getting British citizenship if married to a British citizen. I know you don’t need to wait 1 year after getting ILR to apply for citizenship if married to a British citizen. But what if I’m not born with British passport, but just got it less when a year ago. Will my wife still be able to apply without waiting 1 year

What matters is that you were British at the date wife gained ILR. No wait time for her application.
