British Citizenship MN1 section 3(2)

Post by Tvz » Thu Jun 24, 2021 4:44 pm

Hi Admin and team,
Im applying BC (MN1- section 3(2) online for my son from outside the UK. I am up to the "documents" step. I am wondering if I need to submit all the required documents in ORIGINAL or COPY by post once I would make the payment?
Can I send attested true copies?
Many thanks for your help.

I would also like an answer to this question. Applying from Australia.

I applied online last October, from overseas, via section 3(2) for my son. I am British, born in Zimbabwe, and we live in The Netherlands where my son was born. My son is Polish via his mother. I was unhappy that I had to send his original passport but the instructions were clear: original only. We just had to bite the bullet and accept he had no ID for 7 months.
TIP: Make a full copy of your child's passport, including blank pages, before sending the original. You are allowed to send this later, when applying for his first British passport from overseas, after you have received his registration certificate. Making a full copy of your child's passport now, means that you can apply for your child's first British passport immediately after receiving his certificate. Otherwise you have to wait to get his passport back. That can take a few weeks.
