British Citizenship - Overstayer ( EU Settled status)

I came to UK in 2011. Then I had a bit of over staying period from 2016-2019.

Then I’ve got pre settled status with my EU partner 2020: then in 2023 we got married and my wife is both EU and British citizen.

In 2025 February I’m planning to apply for my settled status and hopefully once I’m get it I’m planning to apply for the Citizenship straight away. Do you think my overstay between 2016-2019 will have an impact on my application. This is the only issue I have in terms of good character. Appreciate your view on this grateful if you could suggest some good immigration lawyer who won this sort of cases

We can't advise on immigration lawyers.

If this is the only issue you have against your character (no fines or speeding tickets etc) you should be OK.
All advice comes from personal research and experience and should not be regarded as professional opinion.

Failing to comply with immigration requirements within the 10 years before the date
of decision will normally be a reason to refuse an application for British citizenship on
the grounds of not meeting the good character requirement.
So if you can adequately explain in the cover note, why you have overstayed and for what reason, maybe then they won't refuse. But if you look in the topic "Unsuccessful applications" on this forum, you will see that most refused applications are because of overstaying


But there were some changes in 2022, see pages 48-49 in that guidance. Sometimes they disregard immigration breaches
