Only A8 nationals intending to become employed in the UK need to register under the WRS. Other Treaty Rights were instantly available as from 01.05.04, for example, being self-employed or a student.

But Aga, what exactly have you been doing in the UK since you arrived in August 2009? The technical question is ... in what way have you been exercising your Treaty Rights in the UK?

I am not sure if the Nationality Checking Service would approve of such an application. Technically they should, but they may not have been trained to do so. If they insisted on an ILR stamp then the only alternative would be sending the naturalisation form directly to the IND, but that might take a lot longer.

well first I was few months on the EU grant at the University; from april last year I was on honorary fellowship and then worked on contract for 7 months. then I did not work for several months and now I have been self employed from July. I am doing the MBA in the meantime but it is part time.As far as I understant the Treaty rights I should be eligible - I dont claim any funds from the government (and I will not do so) and I am economically sufficient.
The only question is - would that be enough or would that be better for me to switch?

and in the sense John I am A8 national (Poland)
but I did not come here in search for work but because I got married to Brit. If I did not I would not have ever come as I had good, permanent job in Poland.
