Accepted Professions (sticky)
Re: Accepted Professions (sticky)
Hi All,
I have looked at the list of accepted professionals on the UKBA website and think have identified two individuals who would satisfy this requirement. But would be good to know if my thinking is along the right lines
1. An ACA Account who currently works in a bank as a Research Analyst.
2. A British Citizen who is currently a Full Time MBA Student
In general, does anyone working at a Bank qualify as a "Banking Official". Does anyone have any clarity on this issue?
Thanks for your help.

Hi,
For the professional standing referee I know someone (not related, known them for more than 3 years, are over 25 years old) who is not British, lives here. She used to be a renowned journalist a few years ago abroad, but has a different job now. She also studied journalism abroad.

Hi, a possible Professional referee is a Legal Executive. As Legal Secretary is a profession on the list Legal Executive should surely count too.
Re: Accepted Professions (sticky)
As per the list of approved referees, Legal Secretary is ONLY accepted if :patricia1066 wrote:Hi, a possible Professional referee is a Legal Executive. As Legal Secretary is a profession on the list Legal Executive should surely count too.
Many 'legal secretaries' are just secretaries and not members of the institute listed above.Legal secretary (members
and fellows of the Institute
of legal secretaries)

This is so tricky! Would an CEO of a small charity be ok, even though she doesn't have 'professionsl' qualifications? many thanks in advance.

Hello Everyone,
I have two referees, they are both British Citizens and over 25. One is a Community Mediator and the other is a Duty Manager in a VAT registered company. Are they okay as referees?? The Mediator one also signed my Passport application. (He mentioned he signed someone else passport application before).
Please I hope anyone can help me, my interview with NCS in on Friday.
Many Thanks.

Re: Accepted Professions (sticky)
Yes, should be fine as long as they are not related to either of you or to each other.

Re: Accepted Professions (sticky)
Good afternoon,
I hope someone can help to clarify the requirement for the 1st referee:
In the Guide AN (page 10) - it says one of the referee who has professional standing.
However in the https://www.gov.uk/government/publicati ... y-guidance (from sticky post - page 10)
it says the following (with regards to having a British passport) :
The referee must:
• have known the (adult) applicant for at least 3 years
• a British passport holder and either a professional person or aged over 25 (at
least one referee must be a professional person)
I am slightly confused with the above 2 statements.
My first referee is my Director, has been my Director (he is a co-owner) for 3.5years, he is Irish, aged over 25 - is this acceptable?
My second referee is my friend, she is English, aged over 25 - I know this wouldn't be a problem.
I hope someone could please clarify this for me?
Many thanks!

The other referee must be a British citizen. Whether they hold dual citizenship UK/Other country is irrelevant.

Re: Accepted Professions (sticky)
Ok, thank you.
Just to clarify... :
The other referee could be a native for example French, Egiptian, Brasilian nationality (and as additional, second UK citizenship)? I mean second referee doesnt have to be a native English or Scotch (untill have UK citizenship)?
Is that right?
Re: Accepted Professions (sticky)
No. It could even be someone who attended their ceremony and became British a week before you.Viodor wrote: ↑Fri Feb 16, 2018 4:41 pmOk, thank you.

Re: Accepted Professions (sticky)
Hi all,
I read through the comments but what still confuses me is whether the referee with a professional standing can be leaving outside of UK or not?
Here's my situation:
My friend (ex-colleague) is a software developer. He is Spanish and lives in Spain but he works remotely for a UK company. He's obviously a professional but he isn't a member of any particular computer society as realistically speaking there's no need for it in order to find work as a developer. *I am a developer myself but never had to be part of a professional body*
Could he be my professional referee?
Thank you

No as 'software developer' is not on the list of acceptable professional referees.Ashkan wrote: ↑Sat Feb 17, 2018 6:52 pm Hi all,

Re: Accepted Professions (sticky)
I’m glad I haven’t seen the list before I applied. One on my referees was a doctor (not dentist) and another one was a graphic designer (none of them on the list) and there was no problem with that. I guess they are not that strict about it.CR001 wrote: ↑Wed Feb 21, 2018 8:23 amPage 24 in link below.Hanialek wrote: ↑Tue Feb 20, 2018 10:39 pmWhere can I find the list of acceptable professions?CR001 wrote: ↑Sun Feb 18, 2018 10:48 amNo as 'software developer' is not on the list of acceptable professional referees.Ashkan wrote: ↑Sat Feb 17, 2018 6:52 pm Hi all,

Re: Accepted Professions (sticky)
Hello
One of my referee for british citizenship application is a minister of religion and he wrote ''I know this person as a worshipper ''
Does it make sense is it going to be accepted by home office
Also is it okay if i make a mistake in a box , cross and go to another one, , I made a mistake while writing my address for example I wrote h instead of g so I crossed that box and then started again on the next box ?
Thanks

Hi All,
Just wondering if Limited company director would be counted under professional standing to be a referee for naturalisation application?
Thanks
