These are suitable if they satisfy all the requirements for referees.Mrsdoc wrote: ↑Sat Dec 26, 2020 12:12 am*REFEREES INQUIRY*
I am posting in this thread as I didn’t want to open a new one for a possibly the same question which had been posted already.
I’m planning to apply for a British citizenship and I’d like to confirm whether my referees are suitable for the application. One of them is a director of engineering with BEng (HONS) AMIMechE another one is a director of a company (I’m assuming a vat registered one) as he runs a car dealership business.
On the professional standing list there’s one for “Engineer (with professional
qualifications)” and “ Director/Manager/Personnel
Officer of a VAT registered Company”. Of course I’m going to ask one of them to act as my professional referee.
Would they qualify for that?
Thanks.
Thank you for your response.alterhase58 wrote: ↑Sat Dec 26, 2020 8:02 amThese are suitable if they satisfy all the requirements for referees.Mrsdoc wrote: ↑Sat Dec 26, 2020 12:12 am*REFEREES INQUIRY*

oh yes! sorry that's what i meant.alterhase58 wrote: ↑Tue Dec 22, 2020 3:11 pmPresumably you mean Settled Status - if you have held it for 12 months you can use that.fifi12345 wrote: ↑Tue Dec 22, 2020 12:45 pmHi,
i have both a permanent residence card and an eu settlement scheme. When filling in the british citizenship form, which one should i put under:
what will you use to apply for a British Citizenship?
Permanent residence card or indefinite leave to remain
I'm asking this because i believe the permanent residence card will expire on the 31st of December, and i'm planning to send my application off in January
andFrom 1 January 2021, if you have settled status you must apply for citizenship on that basis. You cannot apply with permanent residence status.
Am I understand it correctly, that if I decide to apply for naturalisation, I do not need to wait till August 2021?Example
You came to the UK in 2013 and gained permanent residence status in 2018. In 2020, you applied for settled status.
Usually, you would need to wait 12 months after getting settled status to apply for citizenship - but because you had permanent residence for 2 years, you can apply straight away.
To my understanding option 2 is correct in such case, but how to provide information about BRP and free from 12-month qualifying period time restriction? What will you use to apply for British citizenship?
1. Permanent residence card or document
2. Indefinite leave to remain (ILR), including ILR granted under the EU Settlement Scheme
- date of settled status granted
The answer should be simple, I believe:migrantstd wrote: ↑Sun Jan 10, 2021 9:51 pmHello.
Need some advice on naturalization too.
I'm an EEA family member.
BRP granted in 2017
Settled Status granted in August 2020.
In the UK since 2011
I basically got permanent residence status way before settled status.

From 1 January 2021, if you had permanent residence status before you got settled status, you can count that time towards the 12 month qualifying period.

You do not need a permanent residence document to apply with settled status.
There is nothing about partner immigration status. From examples, it seems like there is no need to wait for 12 months after settled status since the first permanent resident status was granted 2 years ago.Permanent residence status and citizenship from 1 January 2021
From 1 January 2021, you can only apply for British citizenship with permanent residence status if:
you already have a permanent residence document
you do not also have settled status under the EU Settlement Scheme
You cannot apply for a permanent residence document after 31 December 2020.
If you have settled status, you must apply for citizenship with this status instead of permanent residence status. Do not apply for citizenship with your permanent residence status if you have settled status. If you do, your application will be rejected.
You can apply for citizenship with settled status 12 months after you first got permanent residence status. You do not need a permanent residence document.
Is my assumption correct or I'm totally wrong?but because you had permanent residence for 2 years, you can apply straightaway.
Do you have a Permanent Residence Card (assuming that you are non-EEA citizen) or DCPR (if you are an EEA citizen)? If yes, when was it issued?migrantstd wrote: ↑Sun Jan 10, 2021 10:36 pmThanks for reply.
My partner is from EU, not UK citizen.

YesDo you already hold EUSS leave (either settled or presettled status)?
YesYou must use EUSS ILR to show that, at the date of application, you are free from immigration time restrictions. Do you also need to show that you have been free from immigration time restrictions for at least 12 months?
If you have not held EUSS ILR for 12 months, then you can also cite an earlier date when you acquired Permanent Residence where this helps. You do not have to provide a Permanent Residence document, but can do if one is held. This may also help to show you have been residing here lawfully during your residential period.
Correct - answer "no" to both - that is a left over from EEA regulations ....murmurka wrote: ↑Wed Jun 09, 2021 9:38 pmHi
I'm a Non-EEA family member (my husband is EEA), I've had my settled status since June 2020.
There is a question in the AN application form:
Are you either:
An EEA national who has been issued with a permanent residence document
A family member of an EEA national who has been issued with a permanent residence card
Do I reply 'no' to the above? I understand that a permanent residence card is a different document from settled status (my settled status card is called 'permanent residence' though..). I'm confused, please help:)
Thank you.
Your UK Travel Document with any stamps in/out will be sufficient - presumably you don't have a passport.
Yes has stamps in and outalterhase58 wrote: ↑Mon Jun 14, 2021 10:54 pmYour UK Travel Document with any stamps in/out will be sufficient - presumably you don't have a passport.
keremeke wrote: ↑Thu Jul 15, 2021 1:59 pmHello,
I wonder if you could help me with below points of online application for citizenship by naturalisation
I am Polish and have lived, studied and worked in UK since 2006, I haven't applied for permanent residence until Brexit was announced, which means I applied for settlement status in 2019 and I have received it as settled status.
I did my settlement application via smartphone app and wasn't asked to provide with proof of english knowledge (I have a bachelor degree in UK) or BRP. I had my passport scaned and picture taken via app, that's all. Does this count as BRP? English Knowledge isn't a requirement for Settled Status - EU citizens didn't have BRP.
1. English Language.
"Do you have a previous visa, entry clearance or leave to remain where you had to prove your knowledge of English"
I answered No as they didnt ask me to provide this info for settled status - is that correct?
" Did you meet the knowledge of English requirement as part of an indefinite leave application made on or after 28 October 2013?"
Should I answer no because i wasnt asked to provide any proof? Correct - but select "Degree from a UK university" - so you don't need a test.
2. Biometrics -
"Are you able to provide a biometric residence permit (BRP) card with this application?" I answered
" No I do not have a BRP for my most recent leave"- is this correct? Correct - as above.
"Do you have a BRP from a previous stay in the UK?" I guess again no? No. - BRPs are only given to non-EU citizens.
3. UKVCAS does it direct me to book this service after I submit and pay for my application? No - after submit you will be able to online book an appointment from the calender slots displayed.
Many thanks for your help in advance, these things are so mind boggling

I always thought a vice-president of a company is a director.Hsrsham1112 wrote: ↑Fri Aug 06, 2021 7:07 pm*Referees enquiry*
The guidance asks for a professional referee who is a director of a limited company. My manager at my Limited company (listed on LSE) has the title of Vice President and is willing to give a reference. Is this ok for the professional reference or is the designation of director something that is absolutely required. He is a British citizen and has known me for 10 years
