Hi there,

I’m posting for my partner. He is an EU citizen applying for citizenship and has had settled status since 2016. He then left the country for a year in 2017 and came back.

In the application, we can need to add addresses for the last 5 years, but can’t add the foreign address for the 1 year he was away.

Do we just add the addresses for the last 5 years and explain the absence of 1 year in “additional information”?

Thank you!

hi there,

My parents have been now in the country for 6 years. They were given Settled status last year and qualify in terms of time.

Now, my parents came here as family members of a EU citizen (my husband). I am now a British citizen as well.

I would like to know what documents they would require to give to proof the 5 continous residence in the UK? They they need to proof the same as if they were EEA citizens? (employed, self-employed, retired or student).
I have read that many people just give their current passport as proof but, Im under the impression that it's only possible when applying as non-EEA route.

Many thanks in advance

They are basically the same as EU citizens. They need to provide something like P60s, Council Tax bills or other official type documents as proof of residence. Only people under UK Immigration Rules ILR only need to show their passports with visa stamps in/out. EU citizens and family members don't normally get stamps in their passports.

hello everyone,

I just got to the part 'Details of trips outside the UK' and I wonder if I need to put every single trip from my last 5 years in there or if I can just attach an excel file later on containing all the trips?

I remember when I was applying for ILR with an immigration firm they asked me to fill out an excel file — not sure if they ended up manually entering each trip. There's quite a lot of short trips.

Thank you

It's probably best to fill in the online list up to the limit (30 trips?) and also load a PDF of the print-out from Excel. At the end there should be a box where you can explain this.

No there is not and you won't get any update until 6 months has passed.

Apologies if this has been asked 1000 times already. I am applying for British citizenship (AN) for my spouse. I assume they are only interested in the absences in the last 5 years immediately preceding the application date i.e. if I apply today which is 10/12/2021, I need to go back and list all absences from 10/12/2016. Is this correct?

Hi all,

We are in the process of filling the naturalisation form from my wife. Just a couple of questions:

1) 'Other information: Do you have any other details that you would like to be considered regarding this applicant and their application to be registered as a British Citizen?' ------ Is it necessary to write something in there? similar to when we filled the ILR?

2) What document(s) can be regarded as proof of residency? Is this to show that my wife was in the country for the past 3 years (qualifying period)?

Hi,

I am an EU citizen applying after 12 months of settled status.

1) For proof of residence, I have P60s for 4/5 years. For the year where I don't have a P60, is it ok to attach a letter from the student loan company with an annual summary and also monthly bank statements for the entire year which show I was in the UK?

2) Also the P60 for 2022 goes up to April 2022 and I am applying end of May 2022, so do I need a payslip for the month of April 2022 to cover the one month or is this not necessary?

Thanks v much for your help!

Bank statements are not accepted for naturalisation. Student Loan Co should be ok, or if you have a council tax bill, or perhaps some payslips to cover the period.

Thanks in advance for the advice.
- I'm Spanish, I moved to the UK in 2013, got my Indefinite to remain 2019
- I've changed a few times jobs and unfortunately some of my P60 and payslips were online and I didn't got copies.

These are the documents I got to prove my residency

- 2016: Council tax, P45, 5 payslips
- 2017: Council tax and P60
- 2018: Council tax and P45
- 2019: Council tax, P45, P60, some payslips
- 2020: Council tax, employer letter
- 2021: Council tax, P45, Payslips
- 2022: P60 and payslips, employer letter

Question1: Do you think these are sufficient?
Question 2: when I moved in 2013 it took me 4 months to find a job and I din't apply to job seeker benefits and I didn't had an insurance. Should I add this into my application??
Question 3: From the 5 employers I only have letters from 3, do you think that would be a problem?

Thanks again

Note for residency your council tax bills are sufficient, plus your 2022 P60
Question 2: when I moved in 2013 it took me 4 months to find a job and I din't apply to job seeker benefits and I didn't had an insurance. Should I add this into my application??
I understand under EU Treaty Rights you were allowed up to six months job seeking time, just note this period as unemployed. No insurance necessary.
Question 3: From the 5 employers I only have letters from 3, do you think that would be a problem?
You don't need to supply all types of documents. As above one document covering a year is sufficient, employer letters are an option but if you have another document that's fine.

Note the application requires only a minimum of documents.

Hi all,

Hoping to get some help here, thank you in advance for anyone who can answer!

I am non-EEA and was going to use just my passport for proof of residency. But because of using e-gates, the last actual entry stamp I have into the UK is for January 2019 even though I have travelled and come into the country since then.

Does this stamp count as entry proof, or does the lack of subsequent travel stamps mean that I need to provide other residency evidence? And would council tax bills be sufficient, as last year I was only employed for part of the year and spent 6 months unemployed.

2019 - council tax
2020 - P60 (duplicate from employer as original was lost in a move)
2021 - council tax
2022 - P60

Thanks so much
