British citizenship application, some questions

Post by deanduke » Mon Nov 11, 2019 7:54 pm

Hello, I'm making application for british citizenship, and have some questions. I am Italian.

Thanks in advance for your time.

1. i've used all the 30 slots for travel abroad, do you think it's too much? Or the HO don't care and looks only at the number of days out of the country?

2. most of the time the reason for my travel abroad is going back home to find parents (about 20 travels out of 30). Is that too much or the HO doesn't care?

3. I try to recall all the travel made in the last 5 years with precise date. What if I cannot remember the precise day, or even if I completely miss some trips? Of course, before sending the application, I'm going to double and triple-check.

4. About proof of living documents, the HO asks for a letter from employer. I'm self employed though, and I suppose I cannot write a litter for myself. Any alternatives? P60 can be enough?

5. The HO require the physical presence in the UK on the exact day 5 years before of the application. As I'm doing the online application, that day would be the day I complete the application and pay for it? Or there is some delay between the completion of application and reception by the HO?

6. Do I need to upload copies of airplane tickets? If so, PDF copies are ok?

Thanks again in advance for your help folks.

D.

1. Unclear what you mean by '30 slots for travel', presumably you mean the online form. You simply need to state your travel. Only whole days out of the UK count for absence, which is what HO is concerned about.

2. They don't care why you travel. Simply answer the question accurately.

3. Should not be a big issue but be as accurate (month/year) as possible as HO do check the records.

4. Are you an EU citizen or non EU citizen?? P60s for 5 years should suffice plus council tax bills.

5. Date of application is the date you submit and pay online yes.

6. No,

Hi,
thanks a lot for your precious replies.

Below my owns:

1. yes, I meant the online form. Everything clear for me about this point.

2. Clear. If I need to use more than 30 slots, is it enough for me to upload an excel file with all the dates of travel, is that correct?

3. Clear.

4. I'm Italian.

5. Clear.

6. Clear.

Thanks, D.

2. Yes, adding a spreadsheet to your supporting documents is fine.

4. Then yes, P60s, council tax and self assessments as you are self employed.

Thanks again.

One last question:

4. don't have self assessment as I'm director of a LTD, so only P60 and council tax. My partner (Italian) does not have council tax, so only P60 may be enough, I suppose. Correct?

Days of presence in the UK

Post by deanduke » Mon Nov 18, 2019 11:05 am

Hi there,
one question about days of presence in the UK.

I'm an EEA citizen, so no needs of VISA to enter the country.

I refer to travel done in 2014, 2015 and 2016: I cannot remember for all of my travels the exact day I left the country or back in it.

Is it ok for me to write the dates the best I remember? Or do I need to be necessarily 100% sure?

Thanks, D.

Yes - write the dates as best as you remember.
Should not be an issue.

If you purchased travel tickets online, you could have a look at the tickets/other documentation that you received in your emails.

Hi, for most of the travel this is what I did, but for the older travels I don't have the emails anymore as in the meantime I've changed my computer and my email also (too spam received).

Printing referee form

Post by deanduke » Mon Nov 18, 2019 4:17 pm

Hi guys,
one question about referee form.

I will present my application on 18th December, in the meantime can I send to my two referees this form here https://visas-immigration.service.gov.u ... on_MN1.pdf to get it signed?

In this way, as soon as I've paid, I can upload all the documents including the referee forms straight away.

Thanks, D.

Check your passport(s) and mention all trips for which you have passport stamps (you might have no UK stamps, but some foreign countries will stamp your passport - especially if you travelled outside EU).
Otherwise, to ease your mind and cover all bases, you can just attach cover letter telling that you list your trips to the best of your knowledge, that dates are approximate, and that you might have missed one or two short trips in 2014-16.

Thanks for that!

Any template for a cover letter for this purpose?

Any previous UK immigration applications?

Post by deanduke » Thu Dec 05, 2019 9:33 pm

Hi there,
one question about the application.

I have Italian passport (don't know if it's important for my query).

At the question "Have you made any previous UK immigration applications in the UK or abroad?” I responded “Yes” and then I stated both my Permanent Status Residence application (granted since April 2018) and my Settled Status (granted since September 2019)

Have I done right or should I have responded “No”?

Thanks, D.

Hello,
I ask you some more questions under my topic even though of for a different reason, as I've been instructed to do so.

It regards days in the UK.

I have EU passport, so neither stamps nor VISA. I make application on 5-years residence basis.

I've calculated all the days of absence in the UK and I'm just under 90 days in the last 12 months, but around 460 in the last 5 years.

Do I need to worry about it? (I read the HO usually disregard absences up to 480 days for the last 5 years). Do I need to attach a cover letter (but I don't know what I should write in it. I've been absent both to visit family, few times for holidays and most for business-related work).

Thanks and regards.
