Application for Certificate of Naturalisation-Overstayed Visa in 2011

Post by Hopeful_soul81 » Thu Sep 22, 2022 11:03 am

Hi Members,

I entered in The UK in 2003 on Student visa and then I extended my student visa few times. However, in 2011, I overstayed my visa but I went back at my own expense on 31st December 2011.

Then I re entered UK on Nov 2016 on spouse visa- (British citizen) and since then I have applied for my extension in 2019 and then got my ILR in 2022 (5 years route on Spouse visa)

Now, I want to apply for my certificate of naturalisation but I am confused if:

1) Do I have to mention all the details of all the student visa extensions I had, during my previous stay in the UK as well?
2) When they as me, when did you first arrive in UK, do they mean 2003 or 2016? My guess will be 2003.
3) Do I have to mention my overstay? Because, I was under the impression that they will only check my last 10 years immigration history.

Kindly suggest as I am worried that this can affect the outcome of my application.

Looking forward to your positive responses.

Hopeful Soul :)

Hi mate ,
Well I believe it’s advisable to mention every immigration details in your application. Failure to do so might look like deception.

When did you first arrive in UK would be 2003.
I don’t think you have any issue at all .Even your last 10 years immigration background starts from 2012 till date.

Try as much as possible to include every immigration information in your application. Remember failure to do so might look like deception which could go against good character requirement.
