I was asked to contact local council office to make an appointment for taking Oath.

On the letter there are some reference numbers which we need to tell while making the appointment.

Thats it!

thanks so much! Any Idea when to apply for Passport?

What is the process? Can I make a passport appointment now itself or should I have to wait?

Kindly advise.

I think you need to attend your citizenship ceremony first (where they present you with a citizenship certificate) - once you have attended the ceremony and received your certificate you will officially be a British citizen! Once it is all official you can then apply for a British passport. (Am pretty sure that is how it works).

There is more info about passport applications and timelines on this forum (thankfully, it looks like the passport process takes about 2-3 weeks at the moment but they warn you that your first adult one could take 6 weeks and you will need to attend an identity interview - you will also need to send them your other existing passport/s while they are processing your application for a British passport).

Also posted in the general timeline

Updated:

Eligibility criteria: 1 year cohabiting prior to 4 years of marriage to a dual EEA/British citizen, no PR, EEA2 for 4 years
Method of application: Postal
Date of application: 7 August 2013
Date of receipt by HO: 8 August 2013
Date of debit of fees: 13 August 2013
Acknowledgement letter received : 16 August 2013 (dated 13 August)
Date of approval: 9 September 2013
Date of receipt of approval: 11 September 2013 (in enclosed Special Delivery envelope)
Date of receipt of invitation letter: 13 September 2013 (dated 9 September)
Date of ceremony: 17 September 2013
The approval letter says that: "I am pleased to say that your application has been successful and you will shortly receive a certificate of naturalisation as a British citizen". No reference to ceremony, invitation letter or contacting council!??!.
The text in the approval letter seems to be a mistake. Today I received the standard invitation letter.

Thanks everyone.

Timeline for Joint application
Eligibility criteria: 5 Years + 1 Yr ILR

Method of application: NCS Manchester
Date of application: 01/08/2013
Date of receipt by UKBA: 02/08/2013
Date of acknowledgement: 09/08/2013 (Dated 06/08/2013)
Date of debit of fees: 06/08/2013
Date of approval: 14/09/2013 (dated 09/09/2013)
Date of Ceremony: Waiting

Very much relieved after agonizing wait for last 6 weeks. after staying here in UK for last 10 years and paying thousands in taxes and astronomical fees towards visas now i should say i am free from these painful clutches of visa processing and fees. a very diabolical experience with HO to say the least.apparently HO can't even afford to send approval via first class after charging nearly £2300.

anyways it is mentioned in the letter to call council and arrange oath.
all the very best to the rest.

I'd like to request to everyone posting their timeline, please mention your NCS council name also (Not just NCS) if you haven't already done so, so that others planning to use service would know how different council services are faring.

Those who have already posted with just NCS as method of application, would you please consider informing about council also?

Congrates a4aneel and fully agree with you. But unfortunately we are the one with our hands at a lower level. So whatever and when HO drops into it, we have to just accept that.

Thanks to everyone on this board -- it has been an invaluable resource over the past years as we have gone through this process! On Friday, my invitation from the county council arrived, and today the official home office letters came for both me and my wife, and my wife's invitation from the county council.

Best of luck to everyone still waiting!

Guys, has anyone else noticed that some of the letter dates are dated on Saturdays and Sundays? Guess the HO must be working (or at least printing stuff) over the weekends? Maybe this is a good thing to speed things up - for example, noticed Tar123zan's letter of approval and invitation was dated on a date that falls on a Sunday...

I am getting so impatient and I haven't even been waiting that long (only one month today!!)

;)
