Wow its nice to see that there are still good people. My neighbour just brought my approval letter to me. On the letter it says if I don't have that letter I can't attend the ceremony but the council said I only need to bring myself.

My letter is dated 15-09-2013
When I emailed it was probably sent to me.

@fingerscrossed123 -i hear you mate, I've managed to piss off my whole household with questions about the local postman and delivery times :lol: :lol: :lol: (a thing that has never previously been of any interest and obviously ignoring that other factors play into it)

Oh, thanks for your kind words of encouragement! I have tried to just be more patient and calm as have realised that this all seems a bit of a lottery so I just need to wait my turn (whenever that will be!)... hopefully you are correct though and it won't be too much longer!! ;)

Are you sorting out your ceremony soon?

@fingerscrossed123.

No problem, it is difficult not to experience some kind of emotion when you see applications with the same timeline dates as yours being approved and yours still pending. It's even more difficult when the timeline is after your own, i experienced that when i saw a couple come through before mine (i cursed @my pc repeatedly :lol:)...but ofcourse you are right, it's sort of a lottery thing hence a strong conviction is required,sprinkled with some faith,mixed with encouragement and a dash of strong will.

As for my ceremony....pfft!, the letter is not here yet, so more waiting 8) on the approval letter, it says not to contact your local council, which knowing my luck, is what they would tell me if i did ring up to query. In hindsight, i should have probably specified which council i would have prefered to have as it so happens am not quite sure which one they will send me to but will keep you posted as well support you and others who are also waiting for the more important ones.

British citizenship approval isn’t a case of “lottery”, and yes a case of the applicant send to the HO all documentations needed for a quick approval. People can send copies of documents BUT will take longer for the approval, you don’t need to send your passports BUT it will take longer, for the HO can check for every single time that an applicant left and returned to UK. Police check is very important as well, so if a person has already PVG, Disclosure, all this can make the approval quicker and of course the nationality of the applicant.
So, never mind if a person sends an application first than another, because at the end the important is if you sent to the HO all the right support documentations needed for your approval.

I think you have misconstrued the word "lottery" in the context we used it in.

@ITGraduate: congrats and well wishes.

Sikiliza69 + xlisusx - you both make good points!! The actual decision process isn't a lottery because if you are eligible you will eventually get approval (so, xlisusx, you are correct to state that the eventual end decision is important!). However, sikiliza69 and I have noticed that the actual date when people get their approvals does seem a bit of a random lottery... some people get approvals fast, some a bit slow....! :D

One final thing I wanted to let you know is that I contacted the HO by email last week to check if my application had been given to a caseworker and whether a decision had been made. They replied quite quickly and said no decision had been made BUT the date of my approval letter shows that they had already made a decision to approve.

I wanted to say do not lose heart or get stressed if the HO tell you that a casework isn't working on your application / no decision made as their email information may not be up to date.

Good luck to all of you!
