Have received my IDV invite now and completed (took 5 minutes).

Just a quick question - the photo for the IDV - is that what will eventually be used for the passport photo? Also i have a beard now vs my id photo - will that make a difference?

You have to apply separately for a passport after your ceremony. The passport is not part of the citizenship application. For the passport application, you have to submit photos again.

Here is a question, I have finished the IDV app submission after receiving an invite just 5mins ago. What happens to the £19.20 for the biometrics if the applicant(s) uses the IDV app? If we can apply for a refund, when and how do we apply for a refund?

Any help will be appreciated.
Just FYI I have applied for Naturalisation for a family of 5. Its been a rough journey and very expensive in terms of cost, so every little help

You pay £19.20 to provide your biometrics. Whichever route UKVCAS or IDV app, you are not entitled for any refund.
Note, for appointments, applicants have to pay EXTRA on top of this £19.20 already paid.

Hi guys so I direct msg UKVCAS yesterday via Twietter asking when i can get an email invite to use the app if I applied on monday 31st Aug. and this is the respond I have received:

UKVCAS: Hello , thanks for your query. You won’t be able to book an appointment at the moment. This is because UKVI are assessing which customers are eligible for biometric reuse and the IDV app. For more information please look here: https://ukvcas.co.uk/flash-message-deta ... geId=74833

Me: thanks for your reply. May I ask when would I know if Im eligible for biometric reuse? I applied on 31st aug.
UKVCAS: Hello, if you're eligible for biometric reuse you would've received an email. It's likely that you're not eligible and have to book an appointment

Me: okay but atm i cannot book an appointment as you mentioned above so do I need to wait for UKVAS to notify me when I can book it?

UKVCAS: Yes you'll have to wait

Me: do you know how long would it take? and will they notify me by email?

UKVCAS: Yes they will notify you by email, I'm unable to say how long it will take.

Me: in the website it say 14th sep so is not correct?
"Our plan is to email eligible IDV customers inviting them to use the IDV app:
By 7 September 2020 for IDV customers who have registered with UKVI and UKVCAS up to 31 July 2020
By 14 September 2020 for IDV customers who registered with UKVI and UKVCAS in August 2020"

UKVCAS: You aren't eligible for biometric reuse, you would've received an email if you were

Me: thanks for ur respond but its not ideal to not know when i can book an appointment because if the deadline is for anyone registered in AUG to be notified whether they can move forward their application with biometric reuse then it should be the same deadline for people who are not eligible for biometric reuse to book appointment.

Does anyone know how long it takes for non biometric reuse application to get an email from UKVCAS to do biometric in person?
I think they are wrong and 15-31 August applicants eligible for re-use haven't been notified yet. They are mixing you with 1-15 August applicants.

The non re-use applicants applied in late August started getting emails yesterday. As with early August applicants, I would expect re-use applicants to get their emails a few days later.
Just an update to everyone, Ive got my invitation to use the App last night which its the opposite of what UKVCAS told me via twitter.

just FYI - I applied on 31st of Aug, uploaded my documents on 2nd Sep and received DV app on 10th Sep. It took me 5 mins to submit so it was easy. However i haven't received any more emails UKVCAS or UKVI confirming this which I think its expected.

Its already included in the application fee when you pay and submit £1330 + £19.20 = £1349.20
£1330 also includes £80 for ceremony.

Successful Naturalisation application!!

I applied for naturalization on 21 May 2020 and then my application was placed in the biometric reuse category. I was invited to use IDV app on 4 September and on the same day I submitted my picture, liveness test, and photo of my passport through the App. Recently I have renewed my Indian passport and the old one was in my application. Thank to @CULLINAN for answering my queries. I used my old passport for an identity check which was the correct thing to do.

After reading the timelines, I got the impression that the applicants going for in-person appointments are getting decisions quicker compared to the App uses. That is my observation by seeing various posts. I decided to book an appointment at Birmingham and did a 2nd Biometric on Wednesday 9 Sept at 19:00 hrs. Finally, today at 15:14 hrs I got the approval.

I am sharing my experience and not recommending anything to anyone. Judge yourself. Read a few pages in this forum and you will get the idea of what suits you.

Special thanks to @CULLINAN and also many thanks to all members who are sharing their experiences.

Applied 31/07, received email confirming biometric reuse eligibility 27/08, received invite to use IDV app 04/09, completed IDV 06/09.

Had already uploaded all documents before receiving biometric reuse email so IDV took about 2mins to complete. Sole applicant, Tier 2 + 1yr ILR, non-EU.

Good luck everyone!
Positive and slightly unexpected update - naturalisation application approved today 11/09, just 5 days after doing the IDV process!!

Congrats @aceace! You are proof that IDV is moving along.
It is just random and not in date order.

@null1639 don't worry we are in a similar timeline, I submitted my application 31 May & submitted via the IDV app on 27 Aug. No news yet. I've already created an email filter so it doesn't go to spam. Probably in the queue, we should get a response soon as it's only been 10 working days at EOP today.

In my personal experience; usually Section 6(2) applications i.e. based on British spouse are decided much quicker in majority cases. Just an observation.

I could be wrong, but @aceace mentioned Tier 2 + ILR so I can only assume it's the same for me and null1639 too which is under: Section 6(1) - 5 yrs. Still patiently waiting :)

Hi,

I have submitted online application for AN on 09.05.2020( with old passport )

on 24.08.2020, Uploaded all docs ( cover letter about new/renewed passport) did face ID check new passport on IDV App.

As i see the posts most of them who uploaded around 24 Aug, received their approved letters, i did not receive any acknowledgement or any update,

is it because of my passport change ?

or do you suggest me to take UKVACS appointment for bio metrics enrollment, if yes ? how can i find this option,

Thank you very much for your inputs.

Thanks again

@newszb

No. Passport change has nothing to do with this. Every case is different and processed on its own merits. You are not alone. Many are in the same boat as you. You should stay patient and hope for the best. Soon you shall succeed.

It is your choice to go for dual submission if you want to. You can log in to UKVCAS account and book an appointment if you wish. But it is not recommended.

Thanks CULLINAN. I thought submitting biometrics according to the HO was the UKVI or now UKVCAS taking your fingerprints etc. On the IDV app nothing of that sort is done. You submit a picture like you will take a passport photo. So essentially, they are reusing previous biometrics. Why should we pay for a service we haven't used?

@Ritchie12

Facial image and passport photo submission is part of the biometrics. UKVI is only using your old fingerprints. You are using UKVCAS service i.e. IDV app to provide your biometrics. Why should you not pay??

@ CULLINAN, why call is it called BIOMETRIC REUSE then? I get that a facial image is given. However, the same image is submitted as part of the application of many documents, referees declaration included. My point is an applicant using the app doesn't scan their fingers and so that shouldn't be classed a service. Its reuse, isn't it?
