Can anyone give me some details regarding the biometrics appointment I have already booked? Do I have to submit the documents before the appointment(I have already uploaded them into the system) or it's OK to wait for them to submit it for me at the appointment? I might have missed something, unknowingly, and I just wanted to be sure I have everything ready. I have to mention that the appointment is at an enhanced point and I have paid around 138 pounds.
Many thanks guys :)
Also, did you submit your documents on the UKVCAS webdite as I read this?
EU Settlement Scheme applications
If you are applying through the EU Settlement Scheme you will need to scan and upload all of your supporting documents when making your application with UKVI. Please do not upload additional documents with your application when using the UKVCAS service.
I have applied to register my little one as a British national, and it the docs were uploaded on the ukvcas website.
The referees were uploaded on other documents tab.
I am not sure if I have to submit the application prior to my appointment or it can be submitted on the day during the appointment.
Thank you! From what I read it says that the documents can be submitted up to 48 hours before the appointment not sure whether you can upload them after the appointment though
They need to be uploaded before your biometric appointment date.

I have uploaded my documents already on the UKCAVs website, but I was wondering if I have to submit them before my appointment or they can do it on the day. My appointment is at a ESP centre.

Hi,

I have a UKVCAS Biometric appointment next week.
However, I need to re-arrange for another date as I cannot make it for that day.
There is very limited information online explaining how to re-book an appointment.
When I go to My Appointments on the website, the only option available is to Cancel the Appointment.
I have called UKVCAS, spent over 1 hour on the phone waiting for someone to answer, to no avail!
I have sent an enquiry form, but I have not got any response.

How do I re-arrange my appointment? Any help, please advise. :(

You have to cancel your current appointment and then book a new one.

So its been 7 months and Im still waiting for decision on my application, I have emailed home office twice now and the only respond I have received is "soon as the enquiries outstanding on your application are completed, we will ensure that an immediate decision is taken and you will be notified". Does anyone know what kind of enquiries they are referring to that have taken more than 6 months?
Should I contact my MP about this?

Im now worried that something is wrong with my application that's why it has taken them this long

I had a Standard appointment at a ESP Centre and had uploaded all of my documents approximately 3 weeks prior to my appointment:
  • It is up to you whether you want to self-submit before your appointment.
  • I did not self-submit and actually 24 hours prior to my appointment, the submit button disappeared for me. At my appointment, the person scrolled through my documents, told me my documents had been checked already then asked if I was happy to submit which I confirmed yes.
  • Also, on the UKVCAS website, it states that if you are still missing required documents when you attend the service point, you can choose to add these to your application by uploading them to your account on the UKVCAS website before 22.00 on the same day, after which point your application will be sent to UKVI as is.

Hi all,

I was wondering if you could kindly advise what would be the best course of action in my situation?

I have submitted all my documents for naturalisation via UKVCAS portal (actually submitted, not just upload so now they are not editable). I have realised that my referees did not write my name of the first page of the referee form (it contains a picture though).

Now, being in the panic mode, not sure what the best course of action:

(1) Add my name to existing form and upload again (portal have have 2 copies for each)
(2) Call UKVCAS, ask to delete (it was literally submitted yesterday, pretty sure it didn’t go to UKVI yet?) and re-upload
(3) Get new references, write cover letter explaining the mistake and upload (bring them to biometric appointment as well and request to check that correct referee forms has gone through).

JUST fyi – have not booked biometric appointment yet.

Also another question more document related… I am applying as spouse of BC and for proof of residence UKVI have asked for passport. I saw on the forum that ppl also load P60s, so I have added P60s for last 3 years. Do I also need to upload payslips for Apr 2020 to March 2021 alongside as I don’t have P60 for this tax year yet? Or this is overboard and they won’t care? Again would have to state that in cover letter – payslips didn’t form part of my original submission.

Your help is much appreciated guys!

Hi,

I am doing MN1 form for kid and wanted to book appointment with Sopra Steria in Belfast, but whenever I try to book it it tells me there is not a single appointment slot for another month, and won't let you browse any further.

There is only one Sopra Steria office in Northern Ireland so I can't just pick another one.
Any advice? How can I book an appointment if there are no appointments available?

I can't edit my previous post but I got the solution.

I waited until midnight, and at 00:01 next day appointments became available so I quickly booked it and now I'm sorted.

It is a struggle to book an appointment in all centers right now, every day at midnight they add one more date, so if you check at midnight you will be able to book an appontment.

Of course you can write your name in the name area. What is important for the referee to write is their details and signature.
Thank you, that is reassuring.
I also don't think it would be a big deal.

But no worries, can happen to the best of us :) - you can now:
1. Write the name on the forms
2. Upload(but not Submit) the revised versions
3. The Sopra Steria employee will submit the revised versions during the appointment

or, alternatively perform all of the above on 25th of march.
Good luck!
Thanks a lot ezroda!

Just want to update on my yesterday’s biometrics appointment in Bath centre. I was quite worried because I forgot to put my name on the 1st page of the referees form but everything went smooth. Staff at the centre was super supportive and reassuring telling me not to panic and that there’s always something missing when people uploading docs themselves. Then rescanned my forms again and asked me multiple times if I want to add anything before final submission. Obviously I’d suggest everyone to be super attentive when uploading documents but if mistakes happen don’t panic.
Phew! It’s done, now waiting for the outcome 🤞.

Note: Clocks change on Sunday 28 March. UK will follow BST. However UKVCAS/UKVI follows GMT (at least in my experience).

For example if someone will apply on 00:01 BST 30th March, the payment reference will show 23:01 GMT 29th March.

Date of application is important so be careful with that.

Apply 00:01 GMT if you want to apply on that particular date not BST.

Also, booking slots will be released 12AM GMT or 1AM BST. Manage accordingly.

Having read through the last few pages of this thread, it looks like the only options are:
Try and book a free appointment at midnight every day.
Pay £200 for the "enhanced centre" appointments

I've already uploaded all my documents and touched the "submit to UKVI" Button. Is there any alternative? For my ILR last year I used the IDV app instead of having to go to any centre. Is that not an option for citizenship?

Does this mean the documents will be checked at the backstage and still get submitted before my appointment- the thing is, now I can’t tell if they are submitted or not. Don’t think the staff will let me know before my appointment.

@CULLINAN suggested patience at this stage - obviously patience didn’t last very long in me!
@herrrr or anyone else - Did you ever find out the answer to this?

I am booked for an enhanced service.

a) I have uploaded all of my documents but am not sure whether to press Submit now or wait for the docs to be checked and have the service provider do this.

b) My visa expires the day before my appointment. It's not clear whether submitting the documents now will have any bearing on whether my application will move any faster, e.g. will my application will be reviewed in the backend now or will it only be reviewed once biometrics and documents are submitted?
a) My experience is they check these documents quite late, almost near towards the appointment time. I still don’t know when they check it and submit it. The thing is if you want to make use of the document checking service you have to upload your documents at least 48 hours before your appointment day. I don’t think pressing submit button yourself in this scenario makes much difference. Unless you have something that you want to remove once submitted - I don’t think you can remove anything.

b) your application date is your application form submission date - assume your have already submitted your application form, you’re fine.
This is my personal experience with UKVCAS and the biometrics appointment. I did not get answers to a few questions until after actually attending the appointment/completing the application process; therefore I hope the following information is of use.

Note - my appointment was at an enhanced service point (Mark Lane)

Document submission:
I did not self-submit my documents prior to the appointment. I uploaded all of my documents 3 weeks prior to my appointment. At the appointment, the staff member scrolled through my documents on their screen and confirmed to me that my documents had already been checked, i.e. checked in the backend. The staff member asked me at the appointment whether I was happy to submit, which I confirmed yes. As I had purchased the SMS Service, I received the following SMS message on the evening of my appointment day, "We can confirm that UKVI have received your information".

Two days prior to my appointment, the Submit button was actually no longer available for me. Just be aware of this in case you really wanted to self-submit for any reason.

If you are still missing required documents when you attend the service point, you can choose to add these to your application by uploading them to your account on the UKVCAS website before 22:00 on the same day, after which point your application will be sent to UKVI as is. Ref: https://www.ukvcas.co.uk/help-support/o ... rvicePoint

I uploaded my own Document Summary document. This was a direct copy of the UKVI Document Checklist which is provided once an Application is submitted. Next to each item I wrote where the document was uploaded, e.g. "document is uploaded to [name of section]". I don't care whether they want this or not. I've paid enough money and know I have done everything right so if they cannot find something, they have a summary to refer to. My visa was granted 4 working days after my appointment. Whether this summary helped, who knows.

Attending the appointment
Appointment confirmation/QR Code: I strongly recommend that applicants print this rather than rely on it being on your phone as you will need to hand it over to at least 2 people to scan.

I purchased the SMS Service as an add-on. One of the SMS messages advised to "arrive 15 minutes early". The email prior to the appointment states, "Arrive at your appointment on time. Do not arrive early as you cannot wait inside due to COVID restrictions". I arrived 20 minutes early and was let in. There were no issues with my documents, the total time for the appointment was approximately 10-15 minutes.

Upon arrival, I was asked for the appointment QR code which was scanned and I was then asked to sanitise my hands. I was led into the office which was very spacious if anyone has social distancing concerns. There was only one other person waiting. A staff member called for me and we went into a smaller office space. The staff member scrolled through my uploaded documents, scanned every page of my original passport and scanned my original BRP. I do not recall any instructions to specifically bring my BRP so it was lucky that I had it with me but I believe UKVCAS refer to it as ‘travel document’. My fingerprints were taken on their scanner, I signed my electronic signature and my photo was taken. FYI there is no mirror to check yourself so I’d suggest, if you wish, taking your own mirror and checking yourself while you are in the waiting area. It is unclear whether the scanner or stylus is wiped down between appointments however, I was asked to sanitise my hands with the provided sanitiser after touching the equipment. At the end of the appointment, you will leave through a different door than the one you entered due to COVID measures.

Original supporting documents: There are conflicting instructions on the UKVCAS website and the appointment emails about needing to bring in original documents. I did not take any original supporting documents with me (except passport and BRP) as I know I had uploaded everything already. I did not require documents to be scanned.

Booking an appointment
I was initially only able to see weekend appointments at my preferred location but these were approximately £130+. I refreshed the appointment slots at midnight (new dates 28 days in advance). Victoria core centre cheapest appointment ~£60+, Mark Lane £70+. I saw no free appointments. (The limited appointment times and prices charged are a joke. But I wasn’t going to delay booking an appointment. During such uncertain times, I personally wouldn’t want to be without a BRP for a lengthy amount of time in case urgent travel was required, most of us are immigrants away from ‘home’ after all and we are in a pandemic). I did not utilise their scanning services and uploaded everything myself so actually paid for an extra service that I did not need.

My documents were a mix of hard copies (photo taken with my phone, you do not need an actual scanner) and online statements (without a verification letter from the bank; going to the bank for a verification letter does not constitute essential travel IMO).

SMS Service
I purchased the SMS Service add-on for £2. The messages I received were:
  • 20 minutes after appointment booking: “Your UKVCAS appointment for [no. of people] is on [date and time]: [address]
  • 6 hours after appointment booking: “UKVCAS next step essentials: Prepare your documents for digitisation. Bring your passport/travel document and QR code to your appointment. Arrive 15 mins early.
  • 2 days prior to appointment: “Your UKVCAS appointment for [no. of people] is on [date and time]: [address]
  • Evening of appointment: “We can confirm that UKVI have received your information. Please contact UKVI direct on 0300 790 6268 if you have any queries. Thank you for using UKVCAS.”
UKVCAS Password
I strongly advise against changing your password if you can avoid it. I was stuck in an error loop when I attempted to change my password and was not given a reason as to what the problem was, the generic message just said something like ‘error on page’ and it would send me in a continuous loop to retype my new password again and again. Another sign of the UKVCAS being an inferior product.

Visa granted/provision of new BRP
These are uncertain times (isolating, moving, hospitals, etc) so we may need to be away from home for various reasons. There was no guarantee that we would be at our home address to receive the BRP so I provided a trusted, postal address for the card to be sent to. This is to confirm that your BRP will be sent to the postal address in your application and it will be via courier. Home Office will confirm when the BRP is on its way via email with a tracking number. The email states,
“please ensure you or someone who lives at your property is present to take delivery of your biometric card, it will NOT be posted through a letter box. The delivery driver will knock at your door or ring your door bell and will only deliver to the recipient or someone who can confirm the recipient resides at the address. Photographic ID such as passport, ID card or driving licence may be required… the driver will request the name of the person taking delivery and will take a photograph of the front door for tracking purposes”.
The BRP arrived the day after the email. It was delivered via courier and posted through the letterbox. The courier took a photo of the front door and left. Unsure whether the ‘drop and run’ service is due to special COVID measures.

Hi Alakazam,

I don't think there is any way to track the application within 6 months of submission. In the naturalisation timeline thread, I see many ppl are waiting since November.

I also applied in November and am still waiting for the approval letter. I did not hear anyone reporting the mail to go in Junk folder, so there is a high chance that it has not been approved yet. I did e-mail at nationalityenquiries@homeoffice.gov.uk to check if they can update me on my application but got a standard reply to wait for completion of 6 months before I can ask for a status update.

I can understand that the process is slow and frustrating but I guess the only option that remains for us is to wait.

Please do update when you receive your approval as it gives a ray of hope to others who are in the same boat.

All the best.

Hi all

A bit of a long shot, but is there anyway to track my Naturalisation application status?

I applied on 01 Nov 2020. So it's just over 4 months. But I am beginning to wonder whether the email approval could have gone to my junk and got permanently erased after the 30 day period in gmail. I haven't been checking my junk email until a few days ago. So I just wanted to check the status of my application.

I appreciate that there are quite a few applications which have taken longer than 4 months and some longer than the service level agreement of 6 months. But I just thought, I'll ask the question to check whether someone found a clever way to track applications.

Of course, I can contact the Home office and check. But before going down that route, just wanted to check for any alternate and easier ways to track the application.

Thanks in advance.

Thanks
Best regards
Alakazam.

You are my hero Cullinan, thanks a bunch! Just managed to snatch an appointment for “only” £71 in Victoria.

Is it some sort of hazing that in order to naturalise, one has to stay up until 1 a.m.
And the promise of free appointments... it is so tongue-in cheek.
Sopra Steria gets millions of taxpayers’ money. They could at least make a bug-free booking system (e.g. that works on MacOS) and does not require arcane knowledge to get an appointment.

And yes, I have good news too - got my approval today. Applied on 25th November.

Alakazam.

@tempuser202020:

When I originally said that I got the approval, I meant that I got the ceremony letter. So I received my ceremony letter on 10 April 2021. I never received any separate approval letter (email or post).

I've had my ceremony on 28 April 2021. So the long journey has finally come to an end.

I hope you're progressing or completed too.

When I did my wife's citizenship application her current passport (all pages) was used as supporting evidence together with the passport before that (all pages), because this previous passport showed when she initially entered the UK to begin the 5 year route to ILR (obtained before the citizenship application of course). Other passports prior to that were not provided.

It is a struggle to book an appointment in all centers right now, every day at midnight they add one more date, so if you check at midnight you will be able to book an appontment.
In my experience, the best and probably only way to snatch up a FREE appointment with Sopra Steria is to login just before 9:00am every day, scroll one month ahead and wait for them at one of the core centers at precisely 9:00am by refreshing the page. You have to be quick as they get booked in a minute or two. The ones they roll out at midnights aren't free.
