An update for everyone who are waiting for the biometric appointment route.
Today I received my approval - timeline as follow:

29/06/2020 - Made the payment for naturalization as an EU national.
30/06/2020 - Received acknowledgement.
20/07/2020 - Received non-usable biometric and asked to book appointment to take biometric.
27/07/2020 - Biometric taken.
31/07/2020 - Received email from HO for further information at 2:08PM after 4 days.
31/07/2020 - Submitted further information request at 22:25PM.
03/08/2020 - Received approval at 8:17AM.

Just as some members said after giving the biometric at the UKVAS they responded within a week.

Good luck everyone.
Congrats ! Just wondering how much did you pay for biometric appointment ?
Thanks. I used the chargeable standard appointment and it was £69.99.

I wish that UKVCAS had issued further updates for applications made in July...

It seems people going for biometrics are receiving approval decisions within a week.
Accordingly, I am hoping that those going for IDV will be receiving decisions soon after submission of facial images, provided they have already submitted documents on UKVCAS website.
Here's hoping that UKVI would have reviewed and decided on the applications and would only be waiting to verify facial images. To be fair, they should start processing in chronological order once IDV becomes active.

Hi all,

I applied on 19th of July and made the payment. I received an email straight away with some reference number and it reads:
"This email confirms the amount paid and the application's reference number. We cannot provide an invoice, but this email provides confirmation that we have received your payment and the application has been submitted."

After this email, I did not receive any acknowledgment email as some people have stated in their timeline, is that normal? should I have received another email acknowledging my application has been received?

Not everyone receives that. Its auto generated and sometimes not pushed by the system. Nothing to worry. I myself have NOT received any acknowledgment.

Have you read any of the posts or the UKCVAS message about delays before simply posting a question that you are having a problem?? Do you think it is only you that cannot book? Read the posts in this topic, it is discussed numerous times EVERY day!!

I did, and I did the confirmation email which asked me to go back to the application to book an appointment.

here's the text:
What you need to do next

If you have not already done so, you must return to your application to book and attend an appointment with our commercial partner to provide your documents and enrol your biometrics (fingerprints and facial photograph).

If you want to, you can also download a copy of your application form and document checklist.

Your application may not be successful if you do not complete the mandatory actions.

but when i look for appointment centres, it just shows no appointments.

Updated: 20 July 2020

We are opening the appointment booking system to even more customers. We have news about a new UKVI policy which may accelerate the application process.

Now open to customers who applied before 30 June 2020

We are now opening up the booking system to UKVCAS registered customers whose application we received between 1 June and 30 June 2020. We are continuing to work from the earliest to the most recent registrations as we think this is the fairest and best approach to take.

If you are one of these customers, you will receive an email from us before 23 July 2020 asking you to book an appointment. The email will have full instructions about the next steps.

Some customers within this date range will not be invited to book an appointment. See the impact of the new UKVI policy changes below.

Most likely, they may open biometric appointments in the week starting from 10th August (for people who applied in July along with people who opted out for IDV app). There are also chances that it may be after people who opted out for IDV app.

This gives an impression that they want to slowdown things for new application who applied in July or after and trying to make some focus on people who are in biometric-reuse category and applied in June and before that.

Congrats ! and which location did you avail the appointment ?
Thanks.

It was in Newcastle and it was the first day of the second week that the Newcastle UKVAS branch re-opened.

The pattern I have observed for those lucky ones who are chosen to attend biometrics are usually from nationalities who are required to register with the police. I maybe wrong but I strongly believe, “nationality” is one of the major criteria UKVI is following.

hi

I applied my son citizenship formT on 27 July 2020 and upload all documents on same time and submitted just i received email to book appointment for Biometrics

so i booked his appointment on 7th of August and paid extra £69.99 and going to travel extra 40 miles , here below is email

We are writing to you as we received your UK Visa and Immigration (UKVI) application between 1 July – 31 July 2020 and you could not book a UKVCAS appointment due to the impact of COVID-19.

UKVI have confirmed to UKVCAS that you are not eligible for the new biometric reuse option so you must book an appointment to complete your visa application.

We are delighted to say you can now book an appointment so we can process and submit your supporting evidence as part of your visa application.

You can now access our booking system and book a date and time that works for you from a mix of free and chargeable appointments.

All our service points are clean and safe with social distancing precautions built in, so you don’t have to worry when you attend an appointment.

I am helping a friend who applied July 25. He received same email today (not eligible for fingerprinting reuse, please make appointment) and was easily able to book free appointment in Glasgow in about two weeks.
I remember when I applied a year ago there were also plenty of free appointments in Glasgow - not too many immigrants here up north I guess..
