As long as you don't have a CCJ and you are sticking to your payment plan, you should be fine.

First of all ,I would like to thank all the members for sharing their experiences!

I have a query regarding conditional offer fixed penalty notice which I received last year in May from Metropolitan police for not maintaining car brakes light (brake light bulb was fuse), which I accepted and paid on time.

I didn't get any points on my license , my query is :

Do I need to click yes on 3.1 "Have you been convicted of any criminal offence in the UK or any other country"?

If yes than

What should I put Sentence given and date sentenced (As I never got anything from court)?

I would highly appreciate your replies.

FPN not a criminal offence. Once a year is safe, but multiple fpn is effect on good character.
But you are safe. If you are not convected from court.

Hi,

I am now eligible for applying for UK naturalization. While going thru the naturalization form I am unsure on what all can impact the Good Character requirement. I have 2 queries -

1. In Sep 2010, I was stopped by police on highway for driving the car without Road tax. As I was new to the country they just gave me a penalty fine of £60.

2. In last 6 years I think I have received 3 to 4 parking fines (not by police but private car parks like Tesco, super market etc).

Does both point 1 & 2 needs to be disclosed while applying for naturalization ? Are these categorized as Criminal Offence ?

Does this impact my naturalization .... I mean can I & my family (wife & 2 kids) be refused naturalization on these grounds.

Number 1) sounds like a fixed penalty notice, which is an out of court disposal.

Number 2) are not technically fines, they are private invoices.

You should probably mention both in the "additional information" box, but neither should have an effect on your application.

They took me to magistrate court, found guilty, appeal through crown court and won. Do I need to declare? Thanks tassel for your reply

hi everyone
I got a police caution last year as I have made my citizenship application a week before I got the caution, i wrote a letter to inform the home office of what has happened and they refused my application based on the that but I applied to the police that the caution was wrong and so they agreed to delict it from my record.so my question is can I make a fresh application straight away or wait for the three years to pass?

I have question about good character

I got Permanent residency in UK, want to apply for my kids born in UK british naturalization. IS my good character issues will affect my son application. ( years ago while i was student i had word extra hours more than what was allowed. So i will apply after one year to clear my 10 years time before my application. But worry if my issue will my son application?

An quick answer will be highly appreciated.

Hi can someone please confirm that if you overstay a visitor visa you won't be able to naturalise based on the good character policy? My family and I came over in 2002 but overstayed on a visitors visa however we for granted dlr based on family life in 2011 and due for ilr in 2017. Does this mean we can't apply for citizenship in 2018? Thanks

I recently submitted my application for British naturalisation on the 9/11/2016 and did my biometric on 21/11/2016, try to contact tax office after my biometric about my debt with the them which was tax underpayment by my previous employer I'm never a self employed I'm always a paye I make an arrangement with tax office paying 150£ every month but due to a lots of what I hear I decided to pay all remaining debt with tax office on 25/11/2016 fours days after submission of my biometric I'm a eea national excercise my treaty rights since 2009
Do I need to contact tax office for the payment I made fours days after?
Anything to worry about?

If I understand correctly you have an arrangement with HMRC for paying off some back taxes - and you have complied with this. So I don't see any reason to specifically mention this, it's not a conviction or court order.

Cautions have to be declared on the form - if you wish to give further explanations you could enter those on page 22 of the form, or else in a letter. Have you considered using NCS to submit? They will have come across such cases before.

Hello guys,

I have received 3 Penalty Charge Notices (PCNs) which are all more than 5 years old. They were issued for the following civil contraventions:

1. Driving into London’s congestion area.
2. Overstaying in a parking location for around 20 minutes.
3. Entering a bus lance.

They were immediately paid and I have not received any more since then.
Will they have negative impact on naturalisation application?

Annex D provides some insight. Perhaps other members have experience of this. If you have sent your application then you just have to wait. Perhaps if you contact NCS they could give you their opinion.

I have got a question about naturalisation of EEA national. 3 Years ago I married a non-EEA national My then wife she applied 2 times for Residency card on the basis of marrying a EEA national. Her application however was refused the first time because she did not provide the valid current address.

Later, we went for an interview to Liverpool and her application was refused on the basis of 'suspecting' the marriage of convenience. Subsequently, because of other issues we have divorced.

Question is. Should I disclose this in my application even though I do not think it consistute bad faith on my side and formally I was not charged with anything?

Do you know how such cases are viewed by the Home office?
