Hi all,

I wanted to be fully sure about travelling while waiting for a decision, so I contacted the Home Office because I made an application on the 14/11/2018 and I am hoping to travel for the Christmas holidays.

The lady said "it's up to you to travel as long as you have the right document to get you back in". Since I hold an ILR, I think it will be fine in my case.

As the guys mentioned it only becomes critical if you miss reading post letters requesting further documents or a letter requesting you to contact the local authority to arrange a ceremony following a citizenship approval. In a citizenship approval letter, it says you must contact your local authority within 21 days, which may be tight for someone away during the holidays.

I am planning to let a friend check my posts to inform me in case I receive a letter from HO while I am away.
That's actually hilarious. I also emailed them after the failed phone conversation I had with them and they responded with the below:

Thank you for your enquiry dated 16th November regarding Traveling while waiting for a decision on citizenship application.

Border Force staff based at ports of entry, decide whether to grant entry to a person arriving into the United Kingdom through immigration control. This is done at the time of arrival on a case by case basis. We cannot advise on a case in advance of that arrival.
Please be informed that when entering or re-entering the UK, a foreign national will be required to show a valid visa allowing them entry to the UK, if applicable. You will also need evidence to prove that you are entering or re-entering for the same purpose as on the visa.
For further assistance in regards to border control please see the below link:
https://www.gov.uk/uk-border-control

Please note the onus is upon individual customers to ensure that they satisfy the requirements set out in the guidance material. The guidance material accompanies each and every application form. UK Visas and Immigration is not able to give, indicate or advise upon the outcome of any such application prior to it being given full and careful consideration.

Directing you to the guidance material is the only advice we can give you. If you need any further help you should seek independent immigration advice. Immigration advisers can help you with immigration matters, including completion of forms and representing you at a tribunal. The Office of the Immigration Services Commissioner (OISC) regulates immigration advisers, which mean they must meet certain standards.

Please see the below link to find an immigration adviser:

https://www.gov.uk/find-an-immigration-adviser

This is so ridiculous, there is nothing about this in the guide documents (am I looking at the wrong thing??) but it's on their website and now if I want to have an answer, I have to pay for an independent advisor?

I am paying an Immigration Advisor, i checked that they are listed in OISC, and he told me i can leave as soon as he lodged my application.
The reason i paid for advisor is because i want to make sure my application is all correct, this is the first time i paid for an adviser because i am applying for discretion. I also haven’t been out of UK this year because i have many days out already but i also want to make sure that once he send my application in middle of December then i can go out for Christmas and New Year, since he is representing me he will be the one answering queries if HO contact for more documents, he advised me to give all my original documents, as many as i can even it is not needed. Just incase need more documents as i am applying for discretion. As soon as he cleared to me that i can go out while British Citizenship is on process i booked my flights already. I am out 480 days in 3 year qualifying and in gov.uk website it is only allowed 270 days out due to accompanying my British husband work abroad.
I guess you just do what you feel is best for you, you won’t enjoy your holiday if you are worrying.

IMPORTANT!!!!

They now updated the text on that site to say:

If you are applying for leave to remain, or indefinite leave to remain, you should not leave the UK until you have received a decision on your application. If you travel outside the “Common Travel Area” (CTA) before the decision is made on your application, your application will be treated as withdrawn.

https://www.gov.uk/guidance/ukvis-new-f ... pplication

Surely with all the calls they got about it, they realised the previous version was extremely confusing and misleading. I'm so happy, now I can go home and see my family for Christmas without having ANY anxiety about this!! Thanks for everyone who kept my hopes up :)

Good Morning,

I dont know its a right thread to apply of there is some other.

I did apply online for citizenship on 15/11/2017 and was in UKVI third party center (Sopra Steria) on 19/11/2018.

I asked Sopra representative that I want to apply my passport as well so can you submitt my passport application but they refused that and told me that they are there just for Citizenship application documents not for passport.

I saw different timeline thread in which members gave information that when they applied for citizenship application and after 4-5 days they applied for passport application as well.

My querry is '' how can i apply for passport application after applying and submitted application"

Quick reply will be appriciated.

thanks

It was possible applying at the council through NDRS joint citizenship and passport scheme service applying for both at the same time (not 4 days later). It is not available through the new service. You will have to wait till you have attended your ceremony before applying for a passport.

Hello All,
I wonder if this is the right place to ask. Its been 7 weeks now since I did my biometrics for the naturalisation application and have heard nothing from them. Any one in that same shoe? Did it take this long? Is there an email I can use to contact them?

Thanks

Hi All.
As i read the the qualifying period is 270 days out of 3 years under BC spouse category, but there is also mention that 300 days of absences normally disregarded, on page 7 on folloing link
https://assets.publishing.service.gov.u ... r_2018.pdf

So i am bit confused whether i should have to wait couple of moth to fullfill the 270 days requiremnet or apply? Bcz right now as i spend 288 days outside UK in 3 years.

Many thanks in advance

I have a few questions, I've applied for Citizenship as I have had ILTR for over 7 years, I used the new service and have paid over £1340. I'm attending the appointment at the Croydon office for biometrics.

1) What additional documents do I need to upload - I have already uploaded my passport, my husband's British Passport, My English cert, My Life in the UK test cert, Marriage cert. I have paid an additional £100 for the appointment and £35 for document checking (when will they do this, Will I be notified before the appointment?

2) Is this application with fee of around £1340 for Citizenship only? What about Passport, is that another process? if so, how do I do it? how much does it cost? and how long will it take?

3) Do I need to hand in my Indian passport at any stage before receiving/applying for my British Passport?

Thanks

After application for naturalisation does UKVI post back the original documents immediately or later?

Also does the decision letter come with the original documents or seperately?

Also if UKVI need to write to you, do they email or post ? or both.

Hi,

I have filed for my daughter and wife for British citizenship via the new online process.

Will be booking an appointment with ukvcas and uploading the documents to their website soon.

I am not able to find any information about how to apply for the passport along with this citizenship, even though in Gov. UK website it clearly says you can apply for both together.

Has anyone give through this ? Any advice

Thanks in advance

You cannot apply for both citizenship and the passport with the new service anymore.

have also applied for citizenship online and Sopra Steria have said they only deal with the biometrics and document submissions not the passport application, home office website still say's you can apply for passport at the same time as citizenship application which is incorrect as nearly all the JCAP centre have now stopped taking new appointments
Spoke to passport centre and they say they cannot advise need to speak to nationalities dept done that also and same answer they cannot advise about passport applications so the information is very confusing

Home Office themselves are unable to advise the correct procedure
now it seem you have to wait until you get your naturalization certificate before you can apply for a passport which again increases the waiting time

Some NDRS have still booked appointments into December, so the website is still technically correct. The fact that NDRS and NCS are no longer taking appointments is separate to that.
