British Citizenship – When can I apply

Hi everyone,

I hope one of you can help
I came July 2006 on a child accompanied visitor visa (16 years old at the time with mother and younger brother)
Lodged an application to the home office on the 10/02/2010, application was refused on 10/10/2010, home office ordered us to start weekly signing. on the 02/02/2011 mother and younger brother went back to home country so she can apply for entry clearance as she was married to a British citizen.
On the 10/02/2011 I went to sign at the home office, got detained and sent to a detention centre.
I've applied for asylum at the detention centre, my asylum claim was refused but I granted discretionary leave to remain under article 8 on the 17/04/2011 for 3 years
extended the DLR and and after 6 years I was granted ILR.

My question:
When can I apply for BC, 10/02/2010 or 17/04/2021?

1 year from the date you were granted ILR as long as you meet the other criteria

10 years from the date you legalised your stay would be safest, ie. 17/4 2021. If you apply sooner and are refused, you lose your fee and there is no appeal process.
