But as I said earlier, just because there is no information available, we shouldn't hammer them with questions as this is not helping at all.
Oh, don't you worry about that. The call centre staff are so uninformed and detached from the actual casework that I am 100% certain that you will not be interfering with printing of the certificates by reaching out to those guys. In fact, I would go so far as to say that they all work for contractors to whom Home Office has outsourced customer enquiries, not least because they would refer to the Home Office as a third party.

As for emails, those are mainly dealt with by automated replies and a proper answer to a case-specific question may be provided only after a couple of months, as has been reported by some members on this forum.

In sum, the Home Office customer service hardly exists, at least for people who are merely aspiring to become citizens. However, if you are already a citizen and need your passport renewed, it is a totally different level of service, talking from first-hand experience. I renewed my British passport in September this year and when I called up the PO to get the reference number for the delivery, the person who answered my query was able to log into my case and retrieve the information on the spot.

After they had given me the info, I felt dumb for having called though, because they use TNT and the passport application reference number, generated when you apply online, is also the reference number that you need to check the status of the shipment with TNT and it works for both the passport and the supporting documents.

Yet, you can see the difference in treatment of someone who is already a citizen and had paid a paltry £75 and £90 for a service to be delivered by the Government and someone who is still a citizen-to-be and had forked out well over £1,300 for a service to be rendered by the same Government. I mean, for that injustice alone, I wouldn't worry about inconveniencing them by asking questions, let alone the fact that as a mere applicant for citizenship, you won't be given a chance to talk to someone who can actually advise you on the status on your case in real time, unless you can demonstrate real hardship due to being neglected by them.

Thanks goodness, we have YOUR help as well as support from the Moderators in this Forum.

I wish I could be as patient as you are with regards to Tirinti’s latest comments, when I read your answers to that user. You spoke my mind too.

Dear All, wondering if anyone has received invitation for Aug approvals yet?
On another note if someone is with Hounslow Council and knows their internal timelines etc? What dates are they doing ceremonies for?

Many thanks

If they just added a function to check the status of the application online they would get a lot less calls and emails.
For those approved, they could perhaps distinguish among;
  • approved, ceremony invite awaiting printing, queue number 12345
    ceremony invite printed
ceremony invite sent by 2nd class post
and have another timeline for the certificate:
  • certificate to be printed, queue number 12345
    certificate printed
certificate sent to local authority by special delivery
However, the Home Office are unlikely to go with that because it does not seem that their queuing system works all that well. Yes, I have modelled for a median timeline, but the volatility around the median is significant, based on just under 50 approvals between mid-May and mid-July for which the data are available on this forum.

Furthermore, the model does not even capture those where discrepancies are the greatest, i.e. people whose ceremony invites are way overdue based on the median, simply because I do not know how much overdue those invites are going to be once they have arrived.

Another complications is that some August and September approvals have received their invites already, but that is because they are not true August and September approvals. Instead, their applications would have been decided upon before the Lockdown started and it is only the relevant approval communications that had been delayed.

Therefore, the best one can do is consider the projected timelines based on what the Home Office has promised (as 12 weeks from the communicated approval date or by the end of October, whichever is later) and also considering the information posted on this forum. If the delay is longer than 12 weeks after the end of October, there are grounds to escalate. Until then, it is a waiting game.
I completely agree with you Baybars
Based on HO replies to my emails, I got approved on the last week of April
However my approval letter dated 23 of August and received on the 3rd of September . Interestingly enough it did arrived at the same day of my ceremony
My council didn't insist on the invitation as they received the certificate

Great work Baybar.
Best to all

Morning all

Didn’t get my invitation letter yet (approved June 10th). However I emailed the registrars office last evening (Hertfordshire) and apparently they already have my certificate. See below email reply. I will give them a call to see if they can book me in the absence of the invitation letter

“Good Morning

Thank you for your email.

With reference to your enquiry, it does appear that we do have you on our system, if you would like to contact the office on 0300 123 4045 after 9am and we can then book your Citizenship Ceremony for you.”
Congrats, great news. It is possible that they are sending certificates via a more secure and a faster service than the one used to ship invitation letters. Be that as it may, please do share the date on the invitation letter once you have received it, even if it be after the ceremony has taken place. It helps with the model because the most recent combination I have is 9 June approval and 20 September invitation letter date.
Hi baybars1

I just remembered that I didn’t update you. Please see below
Council Hertfordshire (Hatfield)
Approval email 10th June
Citizenship Ceremony 8th October (without invitation letter)
Invitation letter received 15th October
Date on invitation letter 21st September

Bless you all, and good luck with your final step in this long and stressful journey

So I got my acceptance email on the 1st of June and got my Citizenship invitation Saturday the 3rd of October. On the letter it says it has been sent on the 19th of September. It also took a few days (around 5) for the council of Coventry to have me in their system in order to actually be able to book the group ceremony. Good luck guys and girls.
Hi,
When is your group ceremony? are they not doing Zoom or private ceremony?
I am also in Coventry council and waiting for the invitation (approved 11 Sept).
Hi, it's a group ceremony but with distancing and less people.

At the moment, Coventry City Council is doing citizenship ceremonies only once a month. The last one was on the 23rd of October. @tauqeer81 you having been approved on 11/09/2020 , according to baybars1 model you should receive your invitation letter by the end of November or beginning of December.

By the way, @baybars1 you are a legend my friend.
I very much appreciate the immense help you are giving everyone here (including myself) with your model which happens to be quite good and pretty accurate considering all sorts of variations in play. A big thank you from me and I am sure many others here.

All the best

Correcting myself :
Coventry City Council held their last group citizenship ceremony on Monday the 28th of September 2020.
@Luciantod when did they say they are doing your group ceremony?

Thanks :)

Hi all

Have we had any more ceremony invites sent out for July approvals? According to baybars model, the printing of all July certificates should have been completed by now and invitation letters in the post for delivery any time in the next 2 weeks.

Hello everyone,

As I have been a follower of this thread for few months now, it’s only fair that I‘d make my contribution to the topic.

Application posted on March 17th
Biometrics done on June 9th
Approval letter dated July 2nd

Still waiting for the invitation and keeping my fingers crossed I’ll get it in the next few days as per our genius baybars model.
Will keep everyone updated as soon as I get the letter.

I’m in Birmingham too and waiting since 10 weeks, slightly approved after you.

They told me by email it’s taking place at the registry office in city centre and ceremony’s are held every Tuesday. No guests allowed. If people prefer a private ceremony they’re available for £206.
Also they said if we don’t have the invitation, but they have the certificate they will book us in without problems.

Two weeks ago they received June certificates.

Hopefully not too long to go now.

Yes, they said they receive their weekly batch every Tuesday and every Wednesday they are able to let us know if they have received ours.
Fingers crossed!

Anyone else still waiting for Home Office ceremony invitation letter for an end of May approval? Council has received the certificate but would not book without letter. I have requested a copy by emailing the Home Office but still waiting on a reply for now.

Yes, I was approved by email in late May; complete radio silence since then. My council is Westminster and I have followed up a couple of times to no avail. I applied in March so perhaps a relatively quick turnaround during lockdown (wondering if backlog works by approval or application date).

My council is Westminster as well. I applied in mid February and am still waiting. As far as I understand the application was processed fairly quickly (in April they told me a decision was made), but then certificates are not being printed for some reason.
As some of the members posted, you can try filling out the ceremony booking form on Westminster website and if they have your certificate it will go through - this will help you rule out the possibility that the council got your certificate but you never received the letter.
