Timeline is

Applied 23rd July 2020
Bio reuse email 4th Sept 2020
IDV submitted 5th Sept 2020
Approval Email 15th Oct
Invitation EMAIL (not physical copy) 11th Dec 2020.
Council York

can someone confirm if this is a change in the process and no physical copy is required?

I have an online ceremony next week and the council will post the certificate on the same day which might reach me in 3-5 days but I am expecting a delay due to Christmas.

Question Can I apply online for a passport right away and post the certificate after I receive it? or do I need to wait till I receive the certificate? is there any reference number on the certificate that I can ask after the ceremony to use in the online application of the passport?

You will need certificate number to apply for passport. Also passport application has to be submitted in one go so can’t be saved and later submitted.

thanks coolrockspart2,

So I can ask the council person to tell us the number on the certificate and apply on the same day and post the certificate with the documents when we get it?

Hi lovely people,

Have been a silent reader for couple of months now. Just thought I should share my application update. Just received a letter today 19th Dec from Kent Council inviting me for a ceremony on the 21st of Jan 2020 Meanwhile I haven't received HO LETTER YET.
Application date 27th May 2020
Biomatric invitation 27th August 2020 ( By App)
Approval Email 7th October 2020
Council letter dated 17 December 2020

From the look of things HO is still sending certificate to Councils but the whole process seems to be a massive mess. So October approvals please check with your councils

Good luck to those waiting for HO letter.

If you get the certificate number technically yes you can submit passport application and later submit documents but not sure if there is any advantage apart from identity verification can be done.

Your application won’t be processed by passport office until they receive your documents.

Also please have a look at Cullinans suggestion regarding submitting passport application.

Whatever best suits your situation you can do it that way forward.

Read the ceremony invitation from HO. It tells you exactly what to do with ILR - BRP and when and where to return it.
Thanks, got it

As London goes in Tier 4 lockdown - I hope ceremonies will go ahead as planned.. but please keep me posted as yours is @23rd Dec .. thank you.
@CULLINAN
I am not sure council will remain open in Tier 4 . guidance says all non-essential venues and well being centre will be closed from tomorrow. I hope they are doing ceremonies in Tier 4. let me know if you have any update buddy.

I think ceremony will go ahead as planned. Ceremonies continued in previous Nov lockdown also. They have strict measures in place. I do not think you will have any issues but please keep us posted. Thanks

If one has to pay £250, rather pay earlier than later.. hope they offer me an earlier slot to make the money worth spent!!

Can someone point me to the Baysbar model link.
My personal view is that Baysbar model doesn't work anymore, It feels like it stopped working after September approvals. I think some fellow members who got approved via email are exceptions including CULLINAN. It does look like his model worked but I think those guys are exception. We all have been receiving email from HO office saying they haven't printed or posted October Approvals.
I am with you on this. From my observations, H.O decisions for invitations are now based on Application date and not date of approval. Hence the reason why people with approvals of November ending but June applications are getting theirs.

I have received my invitation letter and I have been waiting for the certificate to arrive to the council for a month now 😅 just would like to understand if mine is an isolated problem or if council is currently blocked with ceremonies, thanks! and congratulations to everyone that has now become British! :D

Hi members ,
Just to update. I had applied my citizenship application with children. On 7 aug 2020.
Got approval 30 November 2020.
Received children citizenship certificates by post on 17 December 2020.
Now Waiting for myself invitations for ceremony.

2nd. After receiving the children certificates how many days within should I have to return children ILR cards.
Children become British effective from the date on the registration certificate. Just return now as the ILR - BRP invalid and can not use for travel
2nd I am traveling end of December, in case my invitation receive, then when will I need to return ILR.
You (adults) return ILR-BRP after you attend the ceremony and become British - within 5 working days after ceremony

3rd. I read here that home office asking for DBS check provide. If I am on travel so how can I send DBS while on travel. Please advise.
HO can contact anytime they wish via post/email. Ideally there should be someone to keep an eye on the post to avoid any additional documents request deadlines breach (if HO contacts in case)
Thanks Cullinan,
You always kind with members. And congrats that you got ceremony appointment.

Regards.
