Citizenship referee question

Post by forestgump » Mon Oct 04, 2021 8:14 am

Hi

I will be applying for citizenship in 1 month but still question about referees.

I am aware that one referee must be any profession but British over 25 years old and second any nationality (or British) but a profession.

I have the first referee, but wondering if my Supervisor at work can be my referee? We work for local Council in London.
Meaning do they accept Supervisor as a professional?

Thank you

Please refer to page 25 of this document as to what are acceptable professions to act as referee:
https://assets.publishing.service.gov.u ... 2.0ext.pdf
Professionals are often members of a regulatory body, such as accountants, lawyers, surveyors, etc. It should be someone from the list.

So a supervisor or manager at work cannot act as a referee for me?

Professional referee only if they fall into one of the categories on the list.

I have seen on this forum before that people entered their Line Managers as a professional referee and they has no problems.
Is this true?

Also, I have seen that on the list it states “Local government officer”.
We work for local Council in Environmental & Leisure sector.
Is his role still fall under this term?

Can't confirm as to what worked for other applicants - it may not work for you - this is as per government guidance.
If your manager comes under the heading of "Local Government Officer" then that should be ok.

Have you heard about applications been rejected because of wrong referee profession submitted?

Never seen a rejection due to referee issues - generally application are refused for very specific items, primarily if they don't satisfy statutory requirements. UKVI may ask for a different referees if they are not happy.
