My friend is in the same situation and thinking about his kids future.

Stamp 3 is better but no education at least the kids can apply for residency or citzenship after few years in Ireland.

Stamp 2 or 2A can't apply for anything because they're students end of the day, when they finish their course ,can't find empolyment within 6 months they will have to go back :( :(

Stamp 2 or 2A CAN apply for citizenship if they are in ireland for 5 years and arrived to Ireland as minor dependent children, not as students, say at the age of 15 or earlier.

100% sure. If child arrived to Irl before age 16 as minor, his further stamps 2, 2A DO COUNT for citizenship. Before it was considered as non -reckonable for citizenship. But a few years ago they started counting them as RECKONABLE.
My son's application was accepted and ref no was given to him ( a few months ago). He arrives at 15, his first stamp was stamp3 at age of 16, then he had stamps 2, 2A, 1, back to stamp2 and with stamp 2 he applied for citizenship.
A few of my friends did same, same situations, their children's applications were accepted.

BUT U WIL BE SURPRISED FOR LONG TERM RESID THAT DOESN'T WORK !
dont ask me why. They simply dont count them stamps 2 for stamp4 applications. At least half year ago that was true, dont know ab stamp4 now. my son got it as i became irish recently.

yes, LTR is a completely different scheme. for LTR stamp 2 is not counted. if you have stamp 1 for 60 months, you get stamp 4 for 5 years from LTR. if you are on stamp 3 for 60 months (but only as a dependant of a work permit holder), then you get stamp 3 for 5 years from LTR. stamp 2 does not count. time spent in the country as a minor (under 16 years of age without stamps) does not count at all for LTR.

i dont think if your on stamp 3 for five years they will give you stamp 4 if you have been out of the country for even a week or sumthing...

hiya!
Although my situation is kind of different. i was wondering if ayone could offer advice. I came into the country in 2002 as a minor to join family unit who were already on stamp 4. i got my own stamp 4 approval in 2004 and i have been working ever since though not for the whole of the years. My parents recently got naturalised but the problem is that i am now of full age and will have to fill the form 8 form for my application as i am not a minor anymore. I never collected any social welfare since i have been here and during the times i was unemployed, my parents were supporting me. I just want to know if anyone has been in this situation and how long it took to get an approval. Every member of my family are naturalised except me. Plus i sent an application to INIS 2 months ago. thanks

Just wondering guys
How long does it take for people with refugee status before they get their naturalisation certificate. Is it the same long wait for them too or is there a different waiting time for them?
Its never too late

hi all,

I've been doing some clean up work on the Citizenship spreadsheet (fixing poorly formed dates etc.) and though I'd update with some stats from there. I'd like to ask again for people to remember to add/update their details there so we can see a snapshot of everyones timelines without trawling through 200+ pages of posts Smile

Site is: http://www.editgrid.com/user/scrudu/citizenship_apps

The statistics below do not include those who are still waiting!

  • Grounds of Application: 5 Years Residence

Grounds of Application: Spouses of Irish Citizens
    Number of Applicants: 11
Average processing time till decision: 21 months
    Longest Application: 31 months
    Shortest Application: 7 months

    Grounds of Application: Irish Associations
    Number of Applicants: 6
Average processing time till decision: 14 months
    Longest Application: 45 months
    Shortest Application: 3 months

Grounds of Application: Based on Parents Naturalisation
    Number of Applicants: 3
Average processing time till decision: 5 months
    Longest Application: 6 months
    Shortest Application: 5 months

scrudu wrote:The other Citizenship Timeline Tracker thread has gotten pretty long now (nearing 70 pages) and it's proving very hard to track exactly how long it's taking people to get citizenship after applying to the DoJ. I've created a spreadsheet to track details of applicants so we can see how long app's are really taking. My hope is that we can see whether anyone is actually being processed in the advertised average of 23 months, and see if there are any trends on how/when processing happens.

Feel free to add your name: http://www.editgrid.com/explore/user/sc ... nship_apps . If you'd like more or different info captured (i.e. more columns) just let me know.
Wow! :( Not good, that's not very encouraging at all, want to apply for Irish citizenship so I can get over to my boyfriend, don't want to be separated from him more than I have to :( . Am hoping for the best, for me and all the people who are still waiting to be approved. Sending Positive thoughts your way.

Has anyone received a phone call or a letter from the citizenship division? Confirming the time and place for ceremony to be held on 09th of December 11.

If do so please let me know.

Kind regards,

Auck

I live in Ireland since i was 10 . I applied for the citizenship about a year and so . When i sent my application first i got a reply within 2 months asking me for letters from all schools since i arrived to the state and a reckon able residence letter , the reckonable residency letter took me about 6 months to get as they were ignoring my letters until i got a lawyer to contact them . All of this was without getting a reference number .
When i sent the application again , i got a reply asking me to fill the new application which i did then i got a reference number .
My question is , why i did not get a reference number the first time . and why they ask me to fill the new application while my application was submitted first before the new application was introduced .
My second question concerning the reckonable residency , When i turned 16 they gave me stamp 2A then when i went to college i was given stamp 2 before i applied for stamp 4 . My lawyer said its fine because as i was with my parent and i arrived to the state while i was a minor and not on the purpose of study .
Does anybody now someone with the same case ? Should i suppose that its fine because the application was accepted and i was given a reference number

I think you will have to make the declaration in the presence of a Solicitor/ Gardai and he will later counter sign. I hope this helps

Don't sign the declaration coz u must sign it in the present of solicitor and also ask him to fill it as well, phibsborough main junction old building at corner used to be AIB Bank now solicitor off they charge only €20, ask him to check your form fully and he can... Don't send form without check man..

Best of luck...

Laxani, I have been to NCS today for BC application. I was told Home office is extremely busy with applications and even the deduction of the fees could take upto two months. Hope that helps.
