Re: Correcting a mistake on my naturalisation certificate

Post by brador » Wed Dec 22, 2021 5:35 pm

Hi,

I have the same problem: sent my certificate for correction on the 5th of July 2021 (wrong country of birth, already cited USSR problem) and have not heard back since. I tried reaching out via emails suggested on the chat but all I got is the confirmation that they received the documents. My MP office also reached out mid-November but no reply yet. It would be helpful if other people on this chat who submitted around the same time could share if they got their certificates back.

Thank you!

Hi,
in our case we submitted the certificate for correction at the end of July and got it corrected at the very end of November or beginning of December. On the positive side, passport was approved in a couple of weeks.

I hope you have your corrected certificate by now.

Dear All

For future readers:

The issue was that Home Office mentioned my Surname twice on the Naturalisation Certificate even though it was written correctly on my invitation letter.

I did send the RR form and all supporting documents on 18.11.2021 via Royal Mail special delivery and attached all digital copies to lots of emails that I found online. (22.11.2021)

An email was sent to me from: nationalityre-rollrequests@homeoffice.gov.uk in reply to my email of 22.November.2021 to furthernationalityenquiries@homeoffice.gsi.gov.uk
Thank you for your email.

Your request for an amended certificate has been processed today.

Once your certificate has been reprinted it will be sent to you. Unfortunately, I am unable to give a date to when the certificate will be despatched.

I also had an open emergency case with the Home Office with no reply since 28 January even though they did tell me over the phone that they would contact me within 72Hrs to get the problem solved.(I never received any phone call or email regarding my case and for 6 times they said we put a note on your case and you have to wait another 72 hours to get an update, and it never happened)

Today 16.02.2022, I received my corrected naturalization certificate with no issue date on it, and I went to the council and the member of council write my ceremony date on it !!!

RE:Correcting a mistake on my naturalisation certificate

Post by f7zzy » Mon Apr 18, 2022 11:02 pm

Hi everyone,
Applied for British passport just to say my names don't match as my naturalisation certificate was missing my middle name that was on my other passport. Long story short, had to do the RR form and sent it with my documents for special delivery on 9/02/2022. Didn't hear anything for a month as I read this thread and thought it was normal. I decided email them on 4/03/2022 and got email back on 25/03/2022 saying that my "amended certificate has been completed and will be dispatched to you in the next few days". As of today 19/04/2022, I'm still waiting for the certificate and was wondering if anyone else has been in this situation as I need to get my passport sorted asap as I've booked holidays for June back in January thinking that I'd have the passport my Feb latest. If so, how long did it take you to receive the certificate after when they said "dispatched in the next few days" ?

My passport application is still stalled due to this and was also wondering how long it'll take to get it, once I do eventually get the certificate. Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you!

Hi - did you receive you corrected certificate?

I received an email on 12 April 2022 from Case Worker which states:
Your certificate has been amended and this has been dispatched to you via Click and Drop (2nd Class Signed For)

But until today nothing has been received. Not sure how long does this take to deliver.

Hi there,

Nope as of today 26/04/22, I still haven't received it yet which is very frustrating! I really do hope it comes soon. Super annoying how we can't track any of the process!

Have you received yours yet?

Hi - nothing received as of today (27 April 22). I can understand the frustration as I'm experiencing the same. I called yesterday to Home Office and as expected they cannot help much and have escalated to case worker. Said that probably will get a reply in 5-10 working days. Just hoping for the best.

Hi - I just used the standard number on gov website 0300 790 6268.
Not even sure they would take any action or not, as I can see from the previous posts even escalating the matter didn't help much.

That is really frustrating. Glad I'm not the only one with this issue. What number did you use to call to home office? As I want mine to be escalated too.

Thanks
Hi - I just used the standard number on gov website 0300 790 6268.
Not even sure they would take any action or not, as I can see from the previous posts even escalating the matter didn't help much.
Ah okay. I tried that few days ago but they just told me to ring another number which was no longer active hahaha. Lovely help. Any luck on the certificate yet? I'm still waiting.
No nothing yet, still waiting. Not sure when this wait game is going to get over and it's super frustating.
I've not received it yet either. Please keep me updated on your situation.

Hi - I finally received the amendmended one on 5 May. Hope you get your one soon. I noted that the cover letter accompanying the certificate was date 7 April and it took almost a month to reach me. You can imagine the level of service Home Office provides.
Anyways, best of luck!

I'm still waiting for my amended naturalisation certificate and haven't even received my original passport back which I used as supporting documents. Its now been nearly 2 months since the "will be dispatched in a few days email", and over 4 months since I applied for the amendment of the naturalisation certificate. I've tried to chase them up with emails, hand written mails, and all have come back with nothing. I don't know what more I can do and I'm super frustrated. Any one got an suggestion on how to resolve this? I shouldn't be waiting 4 months for something that's their mistake!

Mostly people get it back in maximum 3 months. You should contact with you MP. Why you send your original passport ? You should send copy of documents.

Hi,
I got that email as well today. I don't know why because I already got an email saying mine has been approved and will be dispatched in a few days back in march. This is so confusing and frustrating.
