On my biometrics appointment, would they say if E104 is sufficient evidence or not? As far as I'm aware it should be? What if they say it's not?

During second year of Uni I don't think I got issued a card (can't find it either) but I have paid health contributions in Bulgaria. Overall I have paid health contributions in Bulgaria until August 2016 which is my first month without contributions there. But then I got a job in October 2016 in UK, so I think I am only missing 1 or 2 months overall?

I saw people suggesting E104 forms as a proof that I have paid health contributions in another EU country at the time (Bulgaria) however when we asked how to obtain this form the health institution in Bulgaria they said they need a U1 form for the missing months from 10/2016 till now. I checked with HMRC and tried to submit a form to request this but you're only allowed this form once you're relocating and moving to another country - can this be any more confusing?

CSI: presumably you said to the UKVCAS person you don't have it and they noted it, and completed biometric? Note that UKVCAS are not UKVI caseworkers. It would appear that almost nobody who should have had it had it. There have also been a few reports of applications without or incomplete CSI being approved.

Another thing I am a bit confused about is that they want me to upload 'Proof of living in the past 5 years' and 'Evidence that you have been in the UK lawfully for 5 years' - should 6 P60's apply for both?

P60 are your proof of residency and proof that you exercised treaty rights, plus your PR or Settled Status, so covers both.

Lastly I don't know, I think I got confused with the dates but I was out of the UK 4 times in 2016 and only added 1 of those times - how can I rectify this and give them the other 3 occasions? One is quite significant as well 39 days in Bulgaria 27/07/2016 - 04/09/2016 which links to my CSI problem above

Thank you, I wrote a cover letter about the missing trips so I will send it over to that email address and also attach with my documents alongside an excel sheet showing all my trips to date - hopefully this should cover it.

CSI - My appointment is mid May 2021. I think my only option is to scan and attach my EHIC which covers me 01/09/2016 to 01/09/2017 to the UKVCAS application and tell them I don't have CSI and hope for the best? I saw people attach letters to explain this but surely this only will point fingers at the matter and highlight that I don't have CSI?

How do I proof my Settled status - all I found is that I can issue a code so they can go into my application as far I am aware Settled status is linked to my passport? I was thinking to attach the letter I received in 2019 that I was successful but it states 'this is not a proof of your settled status' on it

Hi all, my wife is going to submit for naturalisation and we have some doubt on the CSI that perhaps you can shed some light on!
We are, like many a bit puzzled from the CSI requirement and don't really know if this applies to her naturalisation application.

She is an Italian national married with a UK national (me, since 02/2020) and arrived in UK on 31/03/2016.
She has received preSS in 04/2019 and she moved to SS on 10/04/2021 (documented via the online site)

She started working as a waitress from 03/05/2016 and continued to so until 04/2017 when she moved to become a sales assistant in M&S. She opened a bank account only in 09/2016. In 06/2019 she has become a financial assistant and is doing so currently.
In other words she has been working along the course of her stay here in the UK which - in theory and if I understand correctly- would exempt her from the CSI requirement.

Is this correct? Is her work by any chance not classifiable as 'qualified person'?

Moreover, we do not have any P60 for the time she was working as a waitress, i.e. 05/2016 to 04/2017 - nor payslips or bank statements- but we have recently got a letter from HMRC detailing her employment history based on National Insurance and Tax information. Would such letter from HMRC be sufficient to support that she did not need to have CSI?

Just slightly puzzled why there are no P60s or pay slips (bank statements are not accepted). We see quite a few members here requesting the HMRC data, as residency proof, not applicable for CSI anyway. I would suggest you find some more documents such as council tax bills, other HMRC correspondence or notifications. Alternatively explain the situation regarding P60/pay slips and refer to the HMRC data. Note you don't need to discuss CSI as it wasn't required.

At the biometrics appointment applicants are asked whether they had CSI or not - in your case not required. No need to discuss with the UKVCAS person doing he biometrics. They just tick the boxes.

The P60s and payslips are not available (from 1/04/2016 to 03/2017) as she was working on a cash in hand contract and such document were not handed to her. We can probably ask the old employer to at least try to provide a copy of the payslips and/or a letter.

Are you though referring to residency requirement or CSI? Residency should be fairly safe as she would have to prove 3 years (and not 5) from what I gather. Hence for CSI I think we should just note down: no ...?

The document we have received from HMRC shows the taxes paid per year and her the gross amount during the year 2016/2017(the document arrived yesterday). Today we asked for another document over the phone that should detail the start dates as well.

Would 2012 not be outside of your qualifying period, though? I assume you have settled status, so when would the qualifying period of 5 years for that begin?

Student years: 2009 - 2012
Working: 2012 onwards
EUSS date: 2019-01 (qualifying period beginning 2015-01) = no CSI requirement between 2015 and 2019 because you worked

I had periods where I did not have CSI much more recently than you and was approved for EUSS and citizenship nonetheless. It was neither raised by the home office or me during my application. I think the probability that they will ask you about CSI dating back to 2012 to 2013 is close to nill.

OK that is really quite reassuring! I also noticed that a law firm actually uses Sweden as an example of a country where they cover medical expenses for their citizens, even when abroad (must admit, had no idea!). Do you think (and I appreciate that it is up to me to make the final call) that this is something worth mentioning in the cover letter, or just leave it be? The Swedish government isn't really known for being particularly fast when it comes to dealing with stuff like this...

The law firm's example applies pretty perfectly I guess:

"Olivia is a Swedish national who came to the UK in 2014 and completed her Master’s degree. She studied for the 2014-15 academic year and has worked continuously since September 2015. She did not have private health insurance or an EHIC during her studies. However, Sweden has a publicly funded healthcare system and, had she fallen ill whilst studying in the UK, the cost of her treatment would have been covered by the Swedish Government. She can request a letter from the Swedish Social Insurance Agency confirming the dates she was covered and use this to meet the CSI requirement for her period of studying."
