Hi All
I am in the same situation! I been waiting for 10 months with no update. I involved my local MP but keep getting the same generic response. I thought my case was straight forward as I have no criminal offence neither in this country or any other countries. I also have clean immigration history. Please advise if you get any update!
Thanks

I been told they are doing some checks about my applications by contacting governmental departments and external agents and once all checks are done they will decide my application. But why checks would take 10 months. I requested Enhanced DBS and it takes less than a week. It is disappointing as I have a good profession and been living in this country for almost 12 years now. Paying taxes and servings the community.

I approached two solicitor to ask if any thing could be done. One said that it might be taking long because they do some audit for some applications. The other said that because I am from the mode east, they do extra checks. Not sure who to believe.

When did you last contact them. I am from the middle east too and I know my application has been submitted 3 months ago only but most applicants that applied during my time have already gotten it and I am worried it would take longer than I had ever expected.

Did you contact them recently?

Yes I did 1 week ago through my local MP. Still did not hear from them. Do you know of any one else from the Middle East who is still waiting!

Not sure why is the delay! Possibly backlogs or extra checks!

I have email them today for any updates, I think because of that I have applied as a refugee and I'm from Iran it would take longer for us than others, also there was a khavarej couple of months ago got his British citizenship and drove his car to London to run over people that made it harder for refuges to get the citizenship or more checks on background and stuff, I hope inshAllah I'll get it because I was planning to get married in South Africa on 9th August anyways we moved it to September , but if not, I won't be too sad about it cause I'm different now I have submitted to the destiny that God have written for me.

Hi all,

I am also from the middle east (Iraq) and I think this makes my application extremely slow. I have applied on 14/11/2018 and it's been more than six months since the date of my application without any decision made regarding my application. I do not have any immigration problem. I applied through the long residence route after I did my undergraduate degree and PhD. I contacted the Home Office two days ago and received an email yesterday saying:

"Dear Sir/Madam,

Thank you for contacting UKVI Contact Centre.

We aim to process all applications within 6 months from the date submitted. However, in certain circumstances this target is not possible. Please note that we will contact you as soon as we are in a position to take a decision on your case. You do not need to contact us again unless you need to report a change in circumstances.

Yours faithfully,

UK Visas and Immigration "

Obviously a very generic and neglecting email. I wonder if any of those posted above had a decision yet and how long did it take to get a decision? I am trying to better plan my life despite the uncertainty that this situation imposes on me  .

I know many from middle east who got their application approved in 2-3 months so it differs from person to person. British citizenship has extensive background checks which means Home Office may have to check your details with some national as well as international authorities some of which might be quite slow to respond. I suggest to relax and do not think about it much until you hear back.

I am in exactly same position. I am from the middle East and I did my PhD here and I had a professional job. I don't even have a fixed penalty notice, I been waiting for 10 months. Not sure why it takes that long! European gets it in 2-3 months.
I get same standard reply!

I applied for my Naturalisation on 6 August 2018. Still waiting for a decision. Story is similar to everyone else who has posted in this group. Keep getting the same automated reply 'so far enquiries on your application are not completed'. Don't know what sort of enquiries are these which have taken 10 months now.

According to my FOI response. around 8000 applications were made in the month of August 2018 and only 570 are pending--unfortunately mine is one of them.

Prior coming to the UK I was working in the Middle East so that can be a reason for delay? dont know dont know

Please post if anyone of you get their decision so that we at least  know how long do we have to wait more..

No one can tell you why your application is taking much longer than others.

I also requested FOI, and pending applications for non EU are 1265 vs 155 EU. Some pending applications are from middle East, Iran, Pakistan, USA, Germany. Also interesting to see that 570 of those were submitted in August! Possibly there is an issue with July and August applications.

Nationality applications are at the discretion of the secretary of the state and there will be no timeframe. This is NOT relevant to the immigration minister. British citizenship is NOT part of the UK immigration rules as it is covered under the nationality law :!: :!:

I do know it is up to the discretion of the secretary of the state but it should not be discriminatory. People should be treated equally!

Hi

I made my application for naturalisation on the 6th March but still no any responses from HO as I can see HO start to process March applications and few users already got their approvals. IS this Normal ? I emailed 3 times to HO for updates every Wednesday since 8th March but all the time I get a same response as below.

Any one experiencing these kind of same situation ?

Thank you for your e-mail.

All applications are dealt with in application receipt date order. As you application was received on 7th March 19, It will take a while longer for your application to be considered. Once your application is decided, you will be contacted by your caseworker.

Hi, I have applied on the same day as you , 6th March, and also have not heard anything from Home Office. I have not not chased them for updates though, as I understand it's completely normal to wait for 2-4 months for a letter, considering current processing times...

Hi Taina

Thanks for your response
I thought all applications process by in receipt date as you can see someone today got approval who made on the 24th March. Anyway can’t help to speed up so need to wait and see.

Hi i have received a reply thorough my MP today from Homeoffice, which i think is positive after such a long time one and a half year:
Below is the update:
Thank you for your e-mail regarding the application for naturalisation as a British citizen of MR ....

The Home Office has to make a number of enquiries before we can reach a decision on whether to grant citizenship.

As part of the application process, the Home Office routinely conducts enquiries with other government departments and external agencies. The extent and length of time taken to complete these varies according to the particular circumstance of each application. Their progress is regularly monitored.

I am pleased to confirm that .......’s application has been allocated to a caseworker.  I am unable to give a timescale for a decision as that depends on the findings of the caseworker during the course of their consideration.  As soon as we are in a position to reach a decision we will notify Mr ...... accordingly."
