When to apply citizenship?

Post by pola 23 » Fri Jul 20, 2018 1:54 pm

Hi guys..I just got my permanent card today after Retained rights and today letter stating that I acquired Permannet status on 10/2017 and I need to wait 12 months for citizenship but somewhere on HO website I read that you can apply citizenship if you lived here for 6 years..here are the words from HO website..

“You can only use your permanent residence document to apply for British citizenship after you’ve lived in the UK for 6 years.

That means you must wait another 12 months if you’ve only lived in the UK for 5 years when you get your document.

But you can apply immediately if:

you’ve already lived in the UK for 6 years when you get your document.”

So I came to UK in 2010 and married to EEA national in 2011 so throughout I was legal..my question is when can I apply for citizenship?

Thanks in advance

So I came to UK in 2010
On what visa?

The words on the HO website also state that you must have been 'free from immigration time restriction', i.e. ILR or PR, for a full 12 months.

Tnxs for reply and I came on Tier 4 and got married in 2011..so is mean I can’t apply before 10/2018?

I already passed LIUK test and just booked for B1 test.so when I apply for citizenship then again I need to send them my EX treaty documents for last 6 years or PR card is enough with approval letter? Thanks

You need to wait 12 full months since the date HO state you acquired PR, so yes, you can only apply in October.

You need to read the form AN, the guidance notes and booklet and see what is asked for.

Hi again.
I have appointment with local Council to submit my citizenship application in October 2018 but I need to fly for 2 weeks to attend my cousin marriage in September so my question is that staying 2 weeks away from England after getting PR won’t create any problem in my citizenship application?
Waiting for reply.Thanks

Hi, I had a small incident today with a man over a parking space which resulted in a fight the police came and in the end no charges were made as both parties decided not to prosecute. However the policeman took down my details. Will this affect my good character reference when applying for citizenship application ? The police have confirmed no further action will be taken.thanks

Does CCJ effect naturalisation application ?

Post by pola 23 » Fri Sep 14, 2018 6:34 pm

Hi I’m about to apply for naturalisation but I have some problem that there are two CCJ on my credit report..
First was about parking fine and I didn’t know about that and I changed my address and didn’t get any letter from council or court and after 6 months when I find out I paid it and is showing satisfy.

Other one was about driving on bus lane and they issued me 2 PCN on same day and I only paid one of them and same address thing happened but I did appeal to Traffic Enforcemnet Centre and they cancelled the PCN and refund me back my money which bailiffs agent took from me but is still showing as a active on my credit history and which I’m trying to clear ..

My question is can it effect my application for naturalisation as a good character ?
Thanks for reply

Contact the companies who took out the CCJ against you and whose debt it was.
