Earning the right to stay: A new points test for citizenship

Post by John » Wed Feb 10, 2010 10:19 am

The Government has now published responses to the consultation it held from last July to October. You can read the 74-page document by clicking here.

And no, having just downloaded it, I have not yet read those 74 pages, but if you have, comments very welcome.

So, majority of the respondents appear to have voted for points based system for citizenship and to control the immigration such as putting cap on the numbers. The idea of 'volunteering' appears not favoured by many.

If these proposals are accepted, any idea when this woud be effective?
