English requirement for Naturalization

Post by rupeshindiakumar » Mon Nov 20, 2023 8:12 pm

Hi Immigration board,

Thank you for your time looking into my request.

I gained ILR in 2015 which is due renewal on 2025. Now I am Applying online for naturalization to gain British Citizenship.

For my ILR application in 2015 for English requirement, I just submitted my Indian Institute of Technology Bachelor degree certificate.

Now for Naturalisation when I am uploading documents online on ukvcas portal, it shows option for "Ecctis letter that confirms the qualification meets or exceeds the recognised standard of a Bachelor's in the UK AND confirm the level of English to which the degree was taught".

Do I have to get the Ecctis letter for this English requirement or jsut my degree certificate will do? Please advise.

Many thanks!
Best Regards

What do you mean by the sentence above? ILR doesn't require renewal.

Thank you for your reply. I meant my BRP says Valid until year 2025. I just want to apply for citizenship as I have indefinite leave to remain or 'settled status'. Hope it is clear now. Could you please answer the English requirement question?

You should be able to rely on the fact that you met the English requirement in 2015 - have you selected the relevant options.
There should then be no need for Ecctis etc.
This is just my opinion as a member of this forum and does not constitute immigration advice.
Please do not send me private messages asking for advice.
