@ Sonnyboy - I fundamentally agree, but the May election is a gamble. Get a UKIP or Tory victory and you know what's gonna happen.

Hi Guys,

I am on same boat, I applied for my naturalisation on 1st august 2014 and on 4th feb 2015 i completed my 6 months and my decision is still pending..i received letter from HO on 6th feb saying some applications take longer than usual and can take unto another 3-6months. This is getting annoying and frustrating now.

Any advise on this on we just need to wait on HO decision.

Thanks for your advise in advance.

Fantastic news Sonnyboy8011 and Devtiki.CONGRATULATIONS!

I got a call on Wednesday after 2 phone calls to the HO for a call back, 4 post mails and 3 emails this month.

Apparently my case has now been investigated and it was an administrative error.
I was told to pay £80 for ceremony, because after the refusal I was sent a cheque of £80 as a refund. Then at 5:37pm yesterday I got an email containing instructions on who specifically to send a signed £80 ceremony fee and form for reconsideration. It was followed with apologies on how my application was handled. I have sent the money and the signed form to the specific person now. Fingers crossed!

Hi there, after a very long time this morning I received a brown envelope from the home office but unfortunately it is still not a decision letter. That is why I would like to share with all of them who were still waiting.

Dear Mr xxxx.
I refer to your enquiry of 28/05/2015, regarding your application for naturalisation as a British citizen.

As I am sure you are aware, naturalisation is not an automatic process and we have to make a number of enquires before we can reach a decision on whether to grant citizenship.

One of the requirements for naturalisation, set out in nationality law, concerns good character. Good character is not further defined in nationality law, and a fairly broad view has to be taken when judging whether this requirement has been satisfied. Enquiries in this area are not limited to criminal records or to a persons activities within the united kingdom. Nor is there a limit set out in nationality law on the time taken to carry out these enquiries.

Information on the home office website makes clear that all application are subject to enquiries to ensure that prospective citizens are able to satisfy all of the statutory requirements, including that of good character. The home office routinely conducts checks with other government departments and external agencies. The extent and length of time taken to complete these check various according to the particular circumstances of each application. The progress of these checks is regularly monitored. It is only when we have the results of the checks that we can reach a decision on whether citizenship should be granted.

The home office website states that we aim to process 95% of naturalisation application within six month. It is made clear on website that in some cases application may take longer than six months to complete.

The home office Nationality Team is subject to close scrutiny, regarding the way in which we deal with citizenship application. On that basis it is in our best interests to ensure that we handle all application in accordance with the relevant law, policy and instructions.

As soon as all of the enquiries have been completed decision will be taken on your application and we will inform you of the decision immediately.
Your sincerely
Case worker name
Michael Fraser
Nationality Team.

Please any seniors member are requested to guess the mater if there is any hopeful dream or just a normal reply from the home office Thank you.
Finger cross.
Babe Khyber.

I am just trying to heard is there any one as well who were waiting a long time for decision or I am the one unlucky person who is waiting since Feb 2014 now running in 26th month. My 10 year residency will be completing in this year August 2016. Anyway I wasn't overstayed since we came to here.
Best regards.

You are not alone. Member Siraj-ud-Daulah is also still waiting since 2014 as far as I am aware and also very disheartened.
