So sorry to hear that. To me they asked me again to "ask someone to confirm my identity" 10 days after the second person confirmed my identity the send a message that now the application is being processed, on Wednesday is going to be 5 weeks since I applied for my passport. I don't really know what to expect next but hopefully is something positive. I think you should call them and explain the situation, the adviser will be able to see any note on your application if you provide her/him with the reference number. Telephone: 03003300901. Good luck and let us know how it goes

Thanks for the reply!
I now have to wait for my landlord to fill in his form again and be patient about it. Will definitely let you know how it went from there. A small correction though - after my identity was first confirmed, I was asked again to find someone after 14 days, not 2-3.

Anyway, here's my timeline so far, if it can be any use to anyone else.

Email sent to person confirming your identity 4:06pm on 26 June 2021
Ask someone to confirm your identity 1:49pm on 26 June 2021
Identity details received 8:38pm on 24 June 2021
Email sent to person confirming your identity 3:39pm on 24 June 2021
Ask someone to confirm your identity 2:54pm on 24 June 2021
Documents received 12:21pm on 15 June 2021
Application received 6:51pm on 10 June 2021
Identity details received 6:50pm on 10 June 2021
Email sent to person confirming your identity 4:35pm on 10 June 2021
Person not eligible 11:22am on 9 June 2021
Email sent to person confirming your identity 3:33pm on 7 June 2021
Ask someone to confirm your identity 3:29pm on 7 June 2021
Application submitted 3:29pm on 7 June 2021

Wow, looks like a nightmare :( is that Liverpool? Try to call tomorrow morning, last time I called on a Saturday and they were working and I think Sunday they are also open, otherwise try again on Monday. They always answer the phone very quick.

If after the person you asked has verified your identity and you get an automated email saying so and another asking to send your documents, does that mean your referee was approved? or do they still need to check that person?. I worry because my referee doesn't have one of those professions listed, in fact she's just a regular worker

It doesn't matter I'm afraid.. a friend of mine verified my identity and HMPO asked me to send my documents, apparently everything was fine in my mind but around 12 days later they got in touch by email asking to verify my identity again. Now a second friend verified my identity and after 11 days the application moved to "application is being processed" hopefully they accept it but look for a backup just in case. Good luck

When I asked him first he told me his profession should be fine, but after HMPO rejected him he told me that maybe he was rejected because he wasn't a manager anymore 🤷‍♀️. Anyway I asked another friend and she called HMPO to check, they confirmed that she should be fine to verify my identity.

my friend is only a team leader , most likely she'll be rejected then.

I don’t know how to understand my timeline . I applied on 2nd of June , a friend confirmation my identity on 3rd. Then I sent my documents to Peterborough’s office on 3rd . I receive an email thy they got my documents on 7th and then again on 16th ??? How is that even possible? Do they send it between HMPO around the country? My application has been processed since 16th of June .
This is so frustrating as my citizenship was approved within 3 weeks and I’ve been waiting for passport almost a month 😅

Hahaha same thing I ask thinking. Is not many documents to check and their are taking longer than many naturalisation process applications. To me they sent a text saying they got my supporting documents on the 28th of May and again 18th June. Applications is being processed since 21th of June.. since I applied is been 5 weeks

Good to know that I am not the only one . I just feel very puzzled right now . Surely everything was checked during the whole naturalisation process . So what are they actually checking now ?

If you receive documents received twice from HMPO it means they moved your application from one post to another. It happened to me. I sent my document to Peterborough but they moved to Liverpool after 12 days. I understand that they have a lot of backlog as a lot of people are applying for passport now. They however don’t have enough hands to handle applications. I believe you will receive approval shortly.

Thank you so much Bizman. How do you know they sent your application to Liverpool? Is any way to find out where my supporting documents are?

You will see on the envelope they use to return your original documents. And congrats for the approval.

Good evening, I’ve just received a txt message that my application is approved . I have been waiting 1 month exactly. I don’t know why it took longer than others but happy about the outcome .

I received the message too last week. No idea where my application is now (sent to Liverpool originally) but it's coming to almost 3 weeks since I sent my application and being processed since July 8th.
I hope I get it soon before mid August because I need to go away

Hi, as promised, I'm letting you know how my application has done so far. Today marks week 7 since I applied for the passport and finally received it this morning. I asked seven different people to be my referee, got reminded by PO twice, including one time when they threatened to withdraw my application if I didn't get someone to confirm my identity and the entire process was resembling a soap opera. Once I got a hold of someone, everything went smooth. The day my referee was approved, my passport was also printed and sent. It was last Friday. I got my passport today (Monday). I got it done! My journey is now over.

A word of advice to others dealing with similar problems: just be patient. You have no idea how many qualified people you have in your surroundings, just don't be afraid to ask and explain the problem you facing. Good luck!
