Hello,
I wanted to ask for what people think of this particular case. I naturalised as a British citizen under s.6(1) of the BNA 1981 approximately two years ago and applied for a passport straight away and received it in the post right after without any issues. At the time of filling out the application, I've honestly answered the question about my future intentions stating that my future intentions are to have my principal home in the UK.
However, now I would like to travel for a bit and am anticipating possibly staying outside the UK for 3-4 months, though it could work out longer than that since I wanted to travel around Europe, but I am intending to return afterwards in any case. Could this result in me being deprived of British citizenship if I were accused of answering the future intentions question incorrectly, even if there was absolutely no dishonesty on my part? And if so, realistically, how long could someone be absent for after naturalisation without running the risk of being deprived of citizenship?
I've just been thinking about this, and it would be weird not to be able to ever reside outside of the UK as a consequence of being a naturalised British citizen without running the risk of losing it. The only other cases that I came across on this board were the cases where someone has left the country immediately after naturalisation and prior to applying for a passport, but in my case, I already have a passport, and had it for around 2 years, but I'm concerned that they'll look at passenger information and use that to accuse me of not being honest regarding the future intentions question, and whether I could do anything to reduce the risks, besides not ever leaving the UK for longer than a few weeks at a time? Surely that cannot be reasonable?
