A quick thought about delays in old applications is : I think the way it works is that each caseworker is assigned a number of applications for a specific period. for example one might get 1,000 July-application and as time goes by the another gets 50 September-applications. obviously it is more likely that if you apply in September you would be served before the person who applied in July. Does that make sense ?

Applied 18th April..still awaiting...:)
I think the origin of the applicant and his/her identity elements (the background) would be considered when the cheks are done. So some people wait more than others.

Just wondering if anyone can tell me that when someone applies for there first British passport, there's a part where you have to write down parents and grandparents details,

My question is what if they don't have some of the details i.e parents British passport number but have names and DOB of parents and not grandparents?

If someone can help that would be very helpful, thanks in advanced.

You can leave grandparents details blank, its not compulsory.
And if parents are not british citizen then leave blank passport number as well.

Good Luck.

Thanks for your reply the dad is British and Mum is Indian but both have passed away and there's no way of getting the passport number of dad as its lost. Also the applicant has been granted British citizenship. Thanks in advance if you can assist further or anyone else who may know.

I think if a person get naturalization on the basis of british parents then one need to mention passport number as well.
As you mentioned, if there is no other way out to get passport number then leave it blank. They are more concern about person details.
If Any one having similar experience, please share your thoughts.

Good Luck

Thank you! I tried to call HO a moment ago hoping maybe I'll also manage to get an update today but they closed their call centre for a staff training:( Well, maybe I'll have some good new on Monday. It would be fantastic to get an approval before Christmas.

It took me 7 days to receive the letter... A whole week of staying clueless about this goodness :) I now think its good I didnt know the decision had been made- it would only make me too worried!!
Fev, yours is on the way Im sure! When did u apply? Im pretty sure the HO wants to clear everything from this year, since they will need to make some kind of a yearly report.

Have applied for a passport. The interview letter has been sent - is it ok to call the IPS helpline to arrange an interview before I receive the letter? Need to travel end of next week and am trying to expedite the timing. Thank you in advance.

Congratulations to you :D

I am personally very confused as to the checks HO does, and to get it in 8 weeks with a large tax bill like that has got me thinking as to what checks or do they do any checks at all....
