What for? To get your decision letter? Or acknowledgment one?

When I applied for my ILR via post, I submitted SD SAE, which only got returned to me in the same 2nd class letter as the rest of the documents...

It has been exactly two months today since our applications were received.
Lets hope the wait is no longer than three months for us all whos applications are still under three months. For those who has already been waiting over three months, hpe they get their approval as soon as the bank holiday finished!!!!!

It been 2 week now but still I didn't receive the invitation letter from Home Office.

Can any body please tell me how long they will take to send the invitation letter.

I have contacted my local council but they not received anything either.

It's very frustrating that Home Office provide/send only half information.

Approval received: 24.05.2012

We didn't realise you could use a checking service until after we sent everything off. Hence having no passports for him ATM.

I notice some of the March people are getting their responses of approval through. is tier 2 usually longer than other tiers?

What seems to be the usual time ATM? From what I can see it ranges but usually 3 months ish.......
Unfortunately, the official minimum time to call is 6 months. There's been varied approval times with some as early as 2 weeks and some more than a year...If I were you, i'd call and tell them I haven't seen the acknowledgement letter yet. Hopefully, if they were sleeping or slacking on the application, that should wake them up...the phone numbers to call are somewhere on this forum...good luck...

Hi Kasif

do you mind to share which council you are expecting letter from ... means the one you selected in your application to attend the ceremony. Thanks. Kam

Greedy borough mate... they love to do private ceremonies as I hear... but you're entitled to request a fresh copy of letter direct from HO after two(2) weeks...

Go quickly to the Borough...the certificates are sitting there...the next group ceremony has been set for 10th July, 2012 as I was told...so if you're desperate you may need to arrange a private ceremony...

Also, my invitation letter by the council was sitting there...I had to pick it up by hand...

Go now if you can as they're closing at 4.30pm today!

Hi all

I am new here and would like to hear your advice on my case.

I have submitted my british citizenship application via the Nationality Checking Services on 8th March 2012. The lady at the NCS said my case should be quite straight forward.

My landlord has just rung me saying that he is selling his flat and I need to move out in 2 months. I have got the acknowledgement letter and saying that the fee has been received. I tried calling the Home Office to ask for my advice but the automatic services asked me to email them instead. I have written to them but I have not heard anything yet. I am a bit frustrated. What should I do?

One month is a long time to get invited by the council. Tell your brother to pay them a visit at the council office where citizenship issues are handled. He will find out the letter may just be hanging in there and he can receive same by hand...Act fast and good luck...i had to pic mine by hand at my council office...
Good luck!

is the 6 months to contact home office from the date you sent it or when you received the acknowledgement letter?

Also regretfully we sent postal rather than NCS (didn't even know about this until after) are these applications notoriously slower?

Hi there. My understanding is that it is 6 months from when they (home office) receive your application letter.

Check the time-line thread to see the differences between postal and NCS application, but from my understanding a lot of people who applied via postal seem to get their approval letters same time as the return of their documents (which a lot of the time is faster than NCS applications). Having said that, it all seem to depend on your luck to be honest as, at times two very similar applications would have totally different time-lines. Good luck with your application.

My hubby and I had conversation yesterday to call HO office and to ask for update somehow but we know that our applications are under 6 months and they don't provide update on that.
Anyway he did ring this afternoon and after 10 minutes wait the call was answered by a lovely polite lady. she asked for reference number, name, date of birth and home address. She typed up all the given information into the system and then asked what is the query? Hubby said'' our credit card was initially declined and we had letter from HO to pay fee which I did over the phone but ever since we have not received any acknowledgement ''. The lady checked on the system and informed that it shows on the system that applications are complete and you should hear from us within the next 2-3 weeks time, if you don't then contact us again.
What do you think guys......??
