Can someone please help me to confirm if my referees' will meet the requirements set out in Sec 5 of form AN.

1) British Citizen, age 50+, Works in Royal mail as Post office official, knows me since 2008

2) Non-British, age 35, my University friend back home (before coming to UK) and now he is in final phase of getting his Phd (Research assistant) from University of Leeds. He knows me since 1997.

Looking at the requirements, they say one must be British over 25 and the other can be of any nationality but professional standing. Would UKBA consider my friend who has done B.E and then Masters in Computer Engineering, currently doing Phd as professional?

Your referee 1 is fine as he is a manger of a vat registered company, which royal mail is.

Referee 2 does not qualify. He is not and cannot be considered a professional and he is not a British citizen either.

Just find any British citizen over 25 years old.

I'm applying for my first adult British passport
Together with my kids first passports

Is it better for check & send in the postal office or
I can just send it myself via special delivery?

I'm abit confused for check & send if I need to pay £8.75 per applicant even if I'm sending them all together.

It is your choice.

You can read FAQ's on the board about passport applications on this board.

Passport application is simple. You should have no problem applying yourselves without C&S.

I dont know how they can mess up my post code by to letters instead of 2QW they put 2GF. I think they did it on purpose for some reason. Do you think I would be able to book an interview on monday when they phone me to correct to details or do I need to wait another letter from them with the correct details?
I have the same problem. I was trying to book my interview, but the date of birth was wrong... They asked me to send my citizenship certificate again ... They had my eu passport, citizenship certificate and application ... And now asking me again to send documents... What a mess!!!

I don't think GP will be ready to sign for you unless you know the GP very well and friend. Logically they are right too for not signing.....!!!??
Best thing is to get a known friend to get signed, if you have managed to get one with British Passport.
Somewhere else in the forum someone asked the same question, I think, so have a look on that, you will get an idea....

Unlike the Nationality team in the HO, the Passport Office doesn't accept GP as countersignatory if they have only known you as a patient.

Hello Everyone, I posted this in the wrong forum before, I think.

Hope you all had a good xmas :)

I'm back, I'm going to apply for my passport now; so if I understood well: after submission, you get a text acknowledging receipt of your application (which takes about 5 days), then your foreign passport + certificate of citizenship back (which takes around 14 days), then the interview letter, which takes 2 or 3 weeks, then you phone and get an appointment within 2 weeks and then the passport about a week after the interview, right?

And you get your documents and passport by registered letter if you pay the extra 3 quid?

Cheers

D

Sounds about right, but usually around half the time at the moment. Yes the extra £3 will return documents secure delivery.

Thanks Amber,

Hopefully, they won't lose my documents or get my post code wrong as some other applicants state above.

I'll try to submit it on Friday or Saturday; good news if it's taken less time now :)

Hi Tronca

how long are you on holidays for? I'm not sure how long you have to call for the interview after the letter arrives; if I were you, I'd apply for the passport, after the holidays, that's what I'm doing.

But let's see what other people say.

Regards

Hello,

I am applying for the first child British passport of my son and I have a question regarding the section 10 of the application form.
Could you please advise who can sign/confirm the photograph?
Thank you.

I think 1 month is enough, but if you want to be sure you can just wait until you are back from your holidays; that's what I did; just wait until you are back from your February holidays and then apply for the passport.

Hi Guys

I submitted my application via the check and send service yesterday, so I take it it will arrive on Monday; I have a little concern; my post code contains a G which looks very similar to a 6 in the squares, because they are very small and have no space to write the G properly; does anyone know what happens if the post code is not clear, because one of the characters that is a G looks like it could be a 6?

I have enclosed an extra piece of paper where I have re-written my full address and the post code is clear there and also the a letter where my address is typed so it's very clear there; does anyone have any experience with the HMPO not being sure about a character in the post code and what they do in those cases?

Regards

D

My humble advice, take a chill pill mate. Don't worry about G and 6. It will not be the end of world. :D

I know it's not the end of the world haha

I was just wondering if that could be a problem, because it's read by a computer or it will be ok, because I wrote it clearly on a separate paper; I was wondering if anyone has had a similar case...
