I haven't seen any rule that says you can't use the same referee for BC and P.A. so you should be fine.

I also think that GPs are accepted, they are people of professional standing and registered with a professional body, so they should be accepted.

I submitted my application on the 3rd and got a notification text saying that they received it, on the 7th; i also emailed them to let them know the spelling of my post code in case they misread it and they replied saying that it was fine.

So I should expect the interview letter and documents back this week, correct?

Cheers

I can't find a FAQ here, but how can I apply the postal route for a passport without waiting for them to post a form to me? Is there a form on the web i can just print and post myself?
Thanks!

Hi All,

I have a question if someone can answer.

I am applying for Naturalization (form AN), but I have enough loan to repay and I am planning to get IVA (Individual voluntary arrangement) to manage my debts.

Can anyone please let me know if this will make impact on my naturalization application.

Thanks

Hello

I will send my Application for the 1st British passport through the Post Office Check & Send next week.

Could anyone advise what is the address of the office in London where the interview is held re the Identity check?

Thanks :)

Hi Everyone,
I be grateful if any GURU can help. I'm applying for Naturalization after 5 Year Refugee and 1 year ILR.
My two daughters (15 & 16 years old) got ILR(ILE) 7 months ago from India and came UK 6 months ago. Question is, can i apply for my daughters as well for registration as BC? My wife got ILR same time as my daughters.(Not applying for Wife yet).

Kind Regards

Hi Derivaz - just checking to see if you have received you interview letter and documents back? I have just applied this past Saturday and got the text acknowledging my application yesterday, so I am very interested with the timelines of others that applied in January.

If neither of you hold ILR or citizenship, your child will not be entitled to British citizenship.

I just received a letter from HM passport office saying my naturalisation certificate has no date and that I need to send a replacement! I used post office check and send. I would appreciate any advice or tips to get this fixed as quickly as possible.

Can someone please help me understand this

I called the HMPO to check on the progress of my application, I was told that apllications generally take two to three weeks with the check&Verification section before it is passed onto the processing section which then deals with the interviews, then sent to the dispatching section which then dispatches out the supporting docs and then passport thereafter.

My question is: If the HO takes all those months verifying and checking your naturalisation application, then they approve it, why then does the HMPO have to spend 2 more weeks cheking and verifying before they can send you application to the processing section to start the process? Also why is it that after paying for the Check and Send service, the HMPO also still starts making the "checking & Sending" before sending it to their other departments, who inturn (am assuming here) also does the same job all over again, WHYYYYY?
Thank God for I have a British Passport!!!.
God conquered Everest (BC) for me, and now has presented me with a Britih Passport.

Hi All,

I'm enquiring on behalf of my husband who is too "laid back" to bother!

He applied for his 1st British passport on 23rd December by SD post. He did check and it was delivered to HM Passport Office plus they also debited the fee. However since then there hasn't been a squeak, no text confirmation, letter...nothing.

Could it be that his application might have been caught up in a pre-Xmas backlog? I think he should be chasing this up as it seems unusually drawn out - mine only took 3 weeks - but he doesn't seem that concerned.

Any thoughts?

Sounds slow even for a pre-Xmas application. Maybe worth checking with the countersignatory. Sometimes they try to contact them which slows the process.
Check the FAQ before posting!

Hi everyone,

I just found this board after wondering about what has happened to my application.

I submitted my BC application through the Wandsworth NCS on the 5th November with the HO taking the funds for the application on the 10 January.

I have not received any letter from the HO acknowledging my application and that it is being processed.

I have contacted the HO through their email but they only informed me that they are still going through the process.

I am worried that they have requested further documentation and I did not get the letter.

Is there anyway for me to check whether they have sent a leller to me? I am just worried that my mail may have gone missing.

Thanks for any assistance.
Regards
Al

It can take up to 6 months for HO to process a BC application (i.e. 5 May 2014), and it's only been 3 months. If the HO had asked for more documentation and you had not responded then they would have highlighted this in their email to you.

I would suggest that your application is in process and that you should wait a little while longer. Bear in mind that there was a rush of applications pre-28 October because immigration rules changed on 28 October.

Thanks for your response.

I was just getting worried since I have been seeing approvals for application submitted after the 5th of November in the timeline thread.

I thought mine was straight forward being an Australian passport holder and had 6 year continuous work permit and ILR.

I guess it just a matter of waiting.

Thanks again

I'm returning to say that the situation was exactly as you deduced. My husband's counter-signatory told him today that they received a reminder letter from the passport office as a follow up to one they'd sent in January which never arrived.

The counter-signatory has written back confirming my husband's identity and that they never received the initial request from HM Passport Office, hence the delay.

Worry over! I initially feared that for the last 1.5 months my husband's docs had gone missing on the return trip w/out hope of recovering them.

Hi All,
Quick question- does anyone know in what circumstances i am required to include my grandparent details (place of birth, date of birth, date of marriage) in section 8 of the application form? I read somewhere that this is not required if being naturalised in the UK.
thanks

I have been living illegally in the uk since 1999
March 8 2009............I applied for leave to remain based on article 8
Sept 29 2009 .............1 year discretionary leave to remain was given
Sept 24 2010...............I applied for ILR
Nov 2 2010..................ILR was given
Nov 5 2011...................I applied for naturalisation
Dec 17 2011...................refused.The letter stated that I did not meet the 5 years residency requirement and
I can apply again anytime from March 8 2014.
My question is when can I apply for naturalisation? Is it from march 8 2014 or from sept 29 2014?
Pls ur advice is needed.
