Guys, I need some information, if anyone can help me...
I received my naturalisation certificate today and now I need to apply for the passport. In the document it is stated that "you should not travel before you receive the passport". Unfortunately, I need to travel abroad for 2 weeks (I've got another passport, which I'll use) and I am considering sending my application form after I come back. I called Her Majesty Service today and they said I don't have any restrictions on the time and when to send the form, the only thing is that I need to be in the country when I send it because they may contact me to arrange an interview.
Has anyone been in the same situation?

May I have a qualified accountant countersign my passport application?

Hi all,
I am going to apply for my first adult British passport soon hopefully.
I have 1 valid passport and 1 expired one.
In passport application form I wrote details of valid one, just wondering should I wrote details of expired one as well and should I send the expired one with other documents.
As long as I know they need just valid one and need to write details of this one only and send with other document, am I right?
Thank you.

No need to give details of expired passport. Just the current valid passport.

Could anyone be kind enough to let me know what the Nationality class go as on the British Passport of a naturalised citizen.
Will it have the former nationality or say British Citizen?? :?

It says British Citizen. However your place of birth is also shown if I recall correctly, so that would give a clue as to your other nationality.

I think you should have some grace period like most countries have that do not allow dual citizenship to return passport? and I think Sri Lanka does allow dual citizenship... don't they?

I think so. Just take your naturalisation certificate with you for when you return to the UK, and perhaps your previous passport with the ILR stamp in it, if that is not in your current one.

If I remember correctly I read that Sri Lanka has suspended dual citizenship, you maybe able to travel with SL passport but when you renew the SL passport in UK you will be asked for certificate of proof that you are not a British Citizen specially if your current passport holds a no restrictions or long term visa. Best to check with SL Embassy / High Commission.

Hi all, quick question on child's first passport application. My kid was born in the UK (in 2013) after my spouse and myself got our ILRs. I read that he's automatically a British Citizen and can apply for passport. So with his passport application do I need to send the ILR cards + passports of both parents or sending only mother's would suffice? Thanks

Hi Guys,

You all probably be sick of this question,I was granted ILR on the 25/04/13, under 28 days i can apply on 28/03/14..
i heard rumors 28 days rule doesn't apply to BC application.

Could somebody kindly shed some light on this topic.

Cheers... have a good one...

From experience, has anyone booked an appointment at a Passport Customer Service Centre to apply for a first adult passport in order to get it urgently? Is this possible after receiving the Naturalisation certificate?
Thanks.

I didn't think that there was any "urgent" procedure for a first passport, only renewals or replacements.

First passport can only be applied through post.
Fast tracks or 1 day services are only available for renewals.

Hi guys,

I have a question regarding holding two nationalities, which will be thankful if someone helps me with it. I recently become a British citizen, so now I have two nationalities, one is Citizenship by birth and the other one is British citizen.
I am wondering to know if somewhere I have to tell my nationality. My nationality will be
Citizenship by birth + British
or
only Citizenship by birth
or
I can use which of them that I want and no need to mention both of them together.

I only wants to know how the things work when you have two nationalities.

Thank u.

Travel with non-British passport after citizenship ceremony

Post by Alex_London2 » Thu Mar 27, 2014 2:37 pm

Hi guys,

I know that similar questions may be asked before, but could you please kindly advise on my situations as it is a bit more complex.
I recently received the approval for British citizenship (naturalisation), and the earliest ceremony I could book is mid April, which means that the earliest time I could submit my British passport application is mid April.

Unfortunately, I have to relocate for work to another country at the end of April. My questions are:
• The country of my current nationality does not allow dual citizenship, which means that in theory my non-British passport should become invalid after the citizenship ceremony? Would there be any issue if I travel with my non-British passport to the country of relocation (which is not the country of my current nationality, btw) in end of April?
• I would then need to return to the UK for the passport interview. Would I be allowed to return to the UK without British passport (but with the naturalisation certificate)? Would Border Agency question that I left the UK without British passport while I was already a British citizen? Would they question that I should no longer use the non-British passport as my country of current nationality does not allow dual citizenship?

Many thanks,
Alex

Good question. I am the same position.. I would say all of the above depending on what form you are filling in and who is asking. Sometimes it may be your decision what nationality you want to put and there may be things like travel visas etc where you have to declare all nationality. But that just my guess, and sorry doesn't really help you.

if I think of online forms you often can just select one option from the drop down so it will be your choice.

My hope is that now that I am British the days of filling in forms are over

Hello All,

I've been granted ILR last December 2013 following 'Legacy cases'. Does anyone know that the discretion could apply to me for early naturalisation application?

Immigration history:
1. Entered UK in December 2006, applied asylum. Been granted DL (until October 2008) after asylum was refused in February 2007 .

2. Lodged in-time further leave application before DL expired.

3. Received acknowledge letter from HO confirming my case was among legacy cases handling by IND.

4. Case was transferred from IND to CAAU then to OLCU.

5. Got ILR in December 2013 after about 5 years waiting.

6. Live with partner and two children ( under 5 years old)

Thank you for your advice!!!
