Yes, you can travel on any passport. However to get back into the UK you need to
a) get a boarding pass from the airline so you'll need proof of your ILR (BRP card or passport with visa, natutralisation certificate may not be sufficient).
b) join the UK/EU/EEA immigration queue on the UK side and show your passport and your naturalisation certificate and/or BRP card.

even if i stay 6months in my native country der would be no problem with it wen i come back to uk using my non british passport?

Hi there,

i applied for ILR in August 2012 with my son and wife which was rejected in March 2014. i appealed against the refusal and won the appeal. now i have received my documents back and also my brp cards will be delivered on Tuesday as confirmed by DX.

so, my ILR application was submitted in August 2012 ( it was same day application but file was on hold for 2 years for someone's else sins). So I believe that technically I could have given visa on the same day which is 12/08/2012 but home office made mistake in taking decision which was proved in AIT by judge and mistake accepted by HO as they did not go to UT. During the process, my daughter born in the UK on October 2012. i wanted to know the visa options for her. is she eligible for British passport directly without going for registration(MN1). Also we have some travel plans in jan/feb 2015 so some idea about processing time will be helpful to take right way.

I really wanted to go for passport directly if worth taking risk. what if in case they don't give passport. any worst effect on her registration application at later stage.

kindly reply..

thanks in advance

It depends on the date ILR was granted. I am pretty sure they will not back date it so you'll need to register your child first.

I have received my brp cards and as expected it is recent dated. so, I have to apply for registration for my child and then can go for passport. this is really frustrating.

Did they not tell you this at ceremony? Citizenship pack also tells you not to laminate it. How did you laminate it?
If it can be taken out without damaging it then you may be ok else you may have to get a replacement from HO.
Not sure if HMPO will hold the application or refuse it if you need a new one.

Seems odd that check and send would allow you to submit your application with the form laminated. They should have stopped your application from going being sent.

hi

First you need to apply for PR. Then wait 12 months then you can apply for naturalisation along with your son.
After the ceremony you can apply for british passport.

Hi guys,

I would have a question.
I applied for naturalisation on 15 October. I havent received my approval yet.

From March this year till 28 November I was on maternity but I dint go back to work as I am going for a 10 weeks holiday abroad.
My question would be can HO ask me to prove my treaty rights for this period?
I mean when we applied for my husbands visa I needed to exercise my treaty rights meaning I was working the recent period too. For example: we sent the application in October and in May when they started working on our application they asked recent payslips. So can they ask recent payslips from me despite I sent my application in October?

I hope my question is understandable

I need some urgent help. I applied from my First British passport after naturalization from S.Korea. The passport office confirmed the application had been received (status check) but no email was sent out. after waiting two months i contacted them and they told me an email and letter asking for more documents as sent out a month ago - which I never received. They told me some one will call me in 36 working hours. This has repeated 4 times now and on the 4th time we rechecked email provided and address - everything was in order a new email was also provided and a UK mobile number as I still use it.
The operator also told me I missed filling section 4 parents information (my bad) but when I enquired I that my parents do not have birth certificate as they were born in 1946, he said wait for the call. Not trusting this I called the passport office again but for a query in regards to filling section 4 and they lady could not help me but kindly typed out an email to the passport office - who emailed me with the same guideline on their website. What use is that to me when the answer isn't there.
36 hours have passed again on Friday and I have not yet received any update.
Could any one please tell me what am I to do - this is very unprofessional to say the least. or help me with any of my concern.
Thank you

Write a complaint letter. They did the same in July for my son. They kept telling me someone would call and never did. After the complaint letter someone did call me.

Hi guys - please advise,

Recently got my approval for naturalisation. Next council date for ceremony is 13th Jan 2015. I am flying on 20th Jan 2015 until 2nd of March 2015. There are no date future dates in march at present for the ceremony unless I book a private ceremony on 10th march 2015. My question is - if I attend the 13th Jan ceremony, will I be still able to travel with my foreign passport and apply british passport once I am back? I can book a private one but just trying to avoid paying another £85. Will immigartion systems at the border reflect my naturalisation and if so won't I be asked the question?

All and any advice is appreciated.Very informative forum and great ppl out here.

Thanks

yes you can , please read my previous post.

travelling on Indian passport after acquisition of foreign citizenship constitutes an offence under the Indian Passport Act, 1967, and attracts penalties. The Government of India has prescribed imposition of penalty on a graded scale for the violation of Passport Rules, depending on number of trips made on Indian passport after acquiring foreign nationality (with a three month grace period from the date of acquiring foreign nationality i.e. the date of Naturalisation certificate), renewal of Indian passport after acquiring foreign nationality and retention of Indian Passport for more than 3 years after acquiring of foreign nationality. The date on the Naturalisation Certificate will be treated as date of acquiring foreign nationality and hence, it is mandatory for the applicants to produce his / her Naturalisation Certificate for obtaining Surrender Certificate.

Your ILR is not valid. The airline doesn't know that you are British so you would be allowed to board the flight in india and the Immigration Officer would let you enter the UK as you are BC now even that your ILR is not valid.

1)travel to india with your indian passport and ILR
2)come back to uk with indian passport with ILR
3)no need to mention anywhere about your naturalisation or any part of the story.
4)apply for british passport once you come back
end of story

Hi Everybody,

I am very confused about Documents required in MY CASE. If someone can guide me through that will be great and much appriciated!

I have Permanant Residence Card Granted January 2014 on the basis of EX-Family member of EEA National

I am an NON-EU national came this country 2006 as a student,
Married to an EEA National 2008,
Divorced 2011 and granted Retain of right of Residence in the UK,
And then on the basis of Five Years completing after the Marriage with an EEA National Applied for PRC wchich was granted January 2014 as i mentioned above.
And Then I married to an NON-EU living in NON-EU Country.
Now my question is; There is section in the Naturalization Application asks about if you are married, do i need to give all the details of my current wife even she is not an EU National and never been to UK or any other EU Country. If YES (which is not an issue) then do i need to provide marriage certificate translated in english ???

And also;
SHOULD I APPLY THROUGH NCS or if my situation look complicated then apply via post and provide all other documents including covering letter?

And Should i apply under EEA Rules/option (I am not married to EEA National anymore) ?

Thanks in Advance

Apologies if this has already been posted somewhere and I am asking a redundant question.

I got my citizenship through naturalisation and I am applying for my first British passport. I am 32 years old and both my parents were born abroad. So, do I have to provide details of my grandparents in the passport application?

The notes next to Section 4 says:
"If both parents named below were born after 31st December 1982 OR were born abroad, we will also need the full names, town, country, date of birth and date of marriage of your grandparents (or details of your parents claim to British nationality)

This is a bit confusion, as the underlined part above does not apply to me. However, both my parents were indeed born abroad.

So, those of you who have been in similar situation, could you please advice?

Many thanks,
K

HMPO will need your parents details but not your grand parents details.
If the guy in Post Office is not trained properly, he'll ask you for stupid stuff like grand parents details so just have it ready on a piece of paper. Or do what I did, post the application yourself.
