I've applied for naturalisation using NCS and was given a royal mail tracking code.

It started to track only 2 days later and now it says: the package was delivered to DURHAM.

But I thought nationality office is in Liverpool, not Durham where the ILR office is?
Have they send my application to the wrong address?

What do you guys think?

When the HM Passport office write back to you to schedule an appointment, do they give you a reference number or a code you need to specify while booking the appointment? Or can you just call them and schedule the appointment even if you have a rough idea that the letter might have been dispatched (but not received yet? - the transit takes 4 days or so)

I have an urgent requirement to go to Denmark and I'm trying to avoid getting a Schengen separately if I can cut short the processing time here without waiting for the interview letter. I did the same for my citizenship ceremony, they already had my details while booking the private ceremony for me! I applied on 7th Feb, usually its taking 3-4 working days for them to dispatch my documents, and another 4 days to receive the appointment letter (which is dated 4 days back)

So I'm assuming I can just schedule an appointment (or do I have to take the appointment letter with me to the passport office too)

Childs Passport Query

Post by sagiloyal » Fri Feb 13, 2015 9:44 am

Dear Members,

I applied for my child passport after recieving naturalisation certificate ON 26th Jan 2015. My child was born here in UK and we have not applied for any other passports and this is his first British pasport.

The letter from Passport reviewer states section 3 a should be No if we dont have any other passports and again states still we need to complete previous passport numbers. which doesnt make any sense as he dont have any previous passports for any country.
Another query is that he states backside of the photo should be certified and signed and we did it but he still says which is menaing less. The person who completed section 10 for countersignature signed and certified one of the child pic. Another query from them is that person who signed as countersignatury in section 10 doesnt meet the requirements but again the person who referred or signed is holding British passport and a software personnel known to parent and Son as per requirements and also in the past same reference provider signed for another application (Another friennds daughter) and their passport got approved. So I filled another form with different reference in section 10 also British Passport holder and again I recieved another letter now that again they are not accepting and again same questions as above.

So any of the questions doesnt make sense but still refused. My son was born here and I am on ILR visa and he got his Naturalisation Certificate but this Passport application got affected with above queries.

Can someone help with this ?? what to do and how to proceed.

Many Thanks,
sagiloyal

Hi guys,

Have a quick question. When you are booking a Passport Interview for your first British Passport, is it relatively easy to get an interview on the weekend (in London).

Thanks in advance.

what you can do is apply for a passport of your country then apply for the british one. It sounds silly but what else can you do?

Passport interview

Post by alpha_t1 » Wed Feb 18, 2015 12:19 pm

Hi all,

I & my wife have recently applied for new adult British passports, following completion of naturalisation.
Due to some reasons, I had to submit my wife's passport application first, followed by mine after about 3 days.
My wife has already received her interview letter but mine is still pending. We would like to request a joint appointment slot for passport interview (if that's not available, at least 2 slots at approx the same time).
Questions:
(1) How long can I wait to receive my pending interview letter before a joint interview can be booked. The letter says they will cancel the application if the appointment is not booked asap.
(2) Would it be better if we just book my wife's appointment at this time, and can that be changed later when I get my letter, so that we are able to go together? We have an infant at home, so it's easier to go there together.

Many thanks in advance.

EU National applications - Possible issues with redundancy?

Post by Panete » Mon Feb 23, 2015 1:26 pm

Hi there,

My wife and me are considering applying for naturalisation.

We have lived in the UK for over 15 years (in her case longer than that), we are both EU nationals and have worked in the country for many years and also studied here. Theoretically we meet all the criteria.

Last year my wife was made redundant and she is not back to work yet. In my case I will be made redundant at the end of March.

I have some questions related to our situation:

- If applying for it in March, technically I will be still working, will I need to inform the home office once I am made redundant or do I need to let them know as part of the application process?
- Will our work situation be a problem? I mean, none of us having permanent work despite not using benefits (excluding NHS) as we have some investments, savings and property so we can afford not to work for a while. We are considering travelling for a bit before setting up a business or moving into a new job.

We can easily find a job, however we would like to enjoy some time off as both of us won't be working at the same time without risking the naturalisation process.

Thanks for your help.

Hi,
I came to UK in March 2011 under Tier1(general) dependent visa (for spouse). I applied and got my ILR in October 2013. can you kindly advise whether I am eligible to apply for my British citizenship now? My husband is also in ILR and we are thinking of applying together for British citizenship next month. Would appreciate if you could advice on my eligibility.
Thanks,
Priyanka

You will be eligible to apply in March 2016 if you are not married to a British citizen.
Your husband can apply now. Once he has become British Citizen, you can apply straight away as spouse of British Citizen.

An expired passport is not cancelled passport so you have to send expired passport as well.
I used the same photo which I used with my naturalisation application and didnt have any problem.

Driving licence

Post by dupuytren » Sun Mar 01, 2015 2:03 pm

Hi all
I've received my British passport.
Do we need to get our UK driving licence update and how does one go about doing this?
I have dropped one of my forenames too when I got my passport and change my signature.
Does it mean I have to send it my Passport to DVLA?! hope not!!
