I have just attended the ceremony yesterday, they dont ask for any ID apart from your Invitation letter.

It depends on your council. I was asked for ID in my ceremony.

When it comes to information about councils people just need to ask their own councils because they all have differing procedures.

My wife is applying for Naturalisation as a wife of BC. What documents she needs to submit with application?so far we have (1) husband's citizenship certificate (2) Life in UK Test (3) one passport photo (4) marriage certificate (5) her passport with ILR..

Are we missing anything?

That is not quite the point. Instead it is necessary to show that the applicant was physically in the UK three years before UKBA will receive the Naturalisation application, where the application is making a section 6(2) application, as the spouse of a British Citizen.

So the point is that it is not a question about when they first came to the UK, or indeed whether they have been in the UK for more than three years. Instead, simply, a yes or no question, were they in the UK at the start of their 3-year qualifying period?

But there are other tests to pass as well.

Married July 2008..... Received Spouse Visa 21/11/ 2008 and came to the UK 22/07/2009 and has been living here since. Received ILR 21/08/2010.

I applied ILR on 02 August 2012 and ILR received on 10 April 2013.

So do I need to wait for 1 full year and apply Naturalization on 10 April 2014

Can I apply 02 Oct 2013 (15 months from the day I applied ILR) ?

As long as you were in no way to blame for the delay then the answer is "Yes"! Except you need to do the maths correctly ..... wait until 02.11.13.

But if for example UKBA queried something and you look a long time to reply, then you would not be able to use this concession.

You are right I mean 02 Nov 2013 would be 15 months. I was never contacted by HO for any thing during the process which means delay was not my fault.

According to immigration act 1971/81 annex B article 7.5 (G) says Discretion to disregard immigration time restrictions in the final 12
months may normally be exercised if consideration of an application for indefinite leave to remain, made more than 15 months before the citizenship application, had been protracted through no fault of the applicant, providing ILR was eventually granted.

I think I will need to do a cover letter, Does anyone have a cover letter that you can share please?

I think you have already written the letter above. You just need to refer to annex B article 7.5 (G), to ensure that they understand why the application is being made on or after 02.11.13.

Is anyone still waiting for a certificate from UKBA.

After several emails to the Nationality Progress email address, I received an email to advise me an approval letter was sent out and we should receive a reply by 5th August. The 5th August came and went and still no sign of a letter. I emailed them once again and received a reply to say another letter has been printed and we should receive within 2 weeks. My wife then received an invitation letter on the 13th August we jumped with joy. I know your thinking that was a bit premature, but I guess I had some faith in the system. However, that was short lived when I contacted the Luton Registry office. They advised me that "NO" certificates have been received in the last 2 weeks because of some technical issues and to try again in a week.

I contacted my registry office again today (20/08/13) to ask if my wifes certificate has been received. She took some details down and put me on hold. After 5 mins the advisor came back with some astonishing news. On the UKBA system it does not indicate that any letters have been sent to my wife. I told the advisor that is rubbish as I have proof of the letter and can bring it in to show you. I was once again put on hold so the advisor can contact UKBA. After a further 2 mins of holding the advisor came back and said, UKBA have made a mistake and no letters should have been sent out to my wife. The advisor then told me the certificate will be ready in 2 weeks. I think for sure there is an issue at UKBA.

Has anyone else had the same issue?

Does anyone know what the technical issues are?

I contacted them and they told me they had an IT issue preventing them from entering decisions onto the system; this was 2 weeks ago, so it might be solved now.

So, in your case, they told you that you were approved, but they shouldn't have sent the letter yet; it sounds like you are approved, but they haven't been able to print your certificate yet; did you ask if that was the case?

My wife has been approved nationality according to the email I received.

The wait for the certificate is bothering me.

Does anyone know how long this will last for?

We submitted the application on the 11th June 2013

Everything has been approved, but just now waiting for the certificate.

We also never received the approval letter. All we received was the invitation letter through the post dated for 19th July.

If you received the ceremony invitation letter; that means that you were approved and that your local authority has your certificate; so you should call them, book an appointment for the ceremony and they will give you the certificate.

I called my local authority and they have told me that no certificate has been received for the last 2 weeks.

I called again yesterday and they have advised me to wait another 2 weeks.

This is taking the biscuit.

It seems like a decision has been made on your application, but they are unable to issue your certificate due to the IT problem; you might want to ask them if that's the case, just to make sure that your certificate didn't get lost.

Hi as you applied via NCS so the letter you received from Home office is a combination letter of approval and invitation letter. Can you check the letter again and you will see what I mean. And ho wont tell you the decisions by email. All they will say is a letter has been sent out xx/xx/xx date . And as you said your certificate hasnt arrived yet for that my guess is as you applied via ncs so ho sent you invitation and approval letter together. I didnt read all your post. And dont relay on ncs word to be honest with you...ncs has nothing to do with ho. All they do is if they recive certificate then write to you to take oath. And best is to email nationality progress. And let us know outvome. If u email today u will hear from them by Thursday. And email to correct email addresse. I am also waiting fof invitation letter a month now. But received approval letter a month before. System problem started 25th july and for last time when I phoned local council last Thursday 15 th aug I was told some certificate arrived Wednesday. And also got reply from ho that they are working to fix system and that was 15th too. So may be system problem fixed now but I have no clue. And as it is fault from their end so dont worry. Certificate normally come Tuesday Wednesday......but I will suggest u to email ho ..nationality progress@ thank you.

Hi..need some help, can any one help me with regards to ESOL. Do you need to attend a classroom course to get a certificate or you just need to take an exam from an accredited test centre, similar to life in the UK? any help is highly appreciated. cheers

I think you just have to sit the test; you just have to make sure it's one of the tests listed by the HO.

but that's only on or after the 28th of October.
