General Discussion During Naturalisation Application Process

Does anyone have an idea how long reconsideration for naturalization normally takes.
Necessary documents for reconsideration was received by HO on 18th Sept
Fees was deducted 1st Oct (£80)

I heard of a case that took 10 weeks and it was granted, but it was a pretty obvious mistake

No probs; why was yours refused?

Someone with matching details was convicted for an offence, I had to get a letter from the court in question and a finger print elimination done with the police for a CRB certificate I sent to them.

I need some help, today I received a letter from BA asking me to provide my WRS documentation. I apply for naturalization in September.
Unfortunately all my certificates were lost or stolen 4 years ago. I provided a letter with all my registration numbers, couple of emails from BA from 2011 as a proof of my queries about getting new copies of WRS and my original blue card UK Residence Documentation for a National of an EEA State.
I am in the UK since November 2004.
What do you think guys, are they going to refuse my application because of lack of WRS copy as a proof or they gonna check my details which I provided to make sure I was registered?

Are they going to refuse me?
Please help me.

ah alright, so it was clearly a mistake, if you the letter from court, you should be approved now.

I'm not sure what WRS, but who issues that? if you need that to get the PR card, then the card should suffice, since it would imply that you have WRS

If you had lost your documents, then the wise thing would have been to make preparations in advance and not just make rushed up enquiries while you have already applied for naturalisation. The best way would have been to make a Subject Acess Request. This way you would have been able to see exactly what documents and information UKBA have on you, and now at the time of naturalisation you could have supplied copies from the SAR file.

Anwyays, now the only thing you can do is, just write and explain this to UKBA that you got WRS around such and such dates, and you lost your documents, and politely ask them to look at the file and find the necessary records.

I'm not sure what WRS, but who issues that? if you need that to get the PR card, then the card should suffice, since it would imply that you have WRS

Home Office issued my card, of course it was in 2006 after been registered under wrs, Croydon issued my residency card. What if some people lose their documents? It may happened sometimes, do they don't understand that?

I hope they will, I provided dates, wrs number and certificate number, but more as I read about naturalisation I am more angry about nationality checking service, even all bits like answer in application AN for point 1.1 or 1.3 I left them empty and the council lady she said, leave it empty, all fine, I should put there my A8 number and date of obtaining 'treaty rights' !!! Now is to late, hope all my worries are for nothing but what if they refuse me? Well I would be gutted !!!!!

The NCS is not very knowledgeable; their main use is that you don't have to submit your original documents; If I were you; I'd send that explanation by email and letter and then ask them by email if they received it and get them to confirm it and keep their reply just in case.

Finally, there seems to be a move on fees being taken for naturalisation. Anybody who submitted there applications on 8th or 9th of Oct seeing any progress?

You won't see any progress; you'll just get the approval letter when it's finished

applied on 5th, fee taken 23rd, called UKBA contact center this evening - they said your application has not yet been complete yet. I did not understand it quite clearly

That is a standard reply:

Your application has not been completed.

Your application is under consideration.

A caseworker has not yet been allocated.

A caseworker has been allocated.

Your case is will be decided after necessary checks.

Your case is awaiting external checks.

Your case is awaiting internal checks.

etc etc



All of the above statements have no meaning at all for an applicant. The only two things that have any meaning to an applicant are:

That the application is delivered to UKBA and payment deducted. This signals that the application has officially joined the que.

Pretty much and you can't even trust that a decision has not been made; because in many case, they say that and you get the decision letter the day after, dated weeks back....

Actually, people need to grow up. Naturalisation applications use to take much longer. But no matter how quick HO makes decisions, migrants are just like impatient kids who want that red lollypop instantly in their mouth.

I am going to send a suggestion to HO to raise naturalisation fees to £ 2000

Hi there,
I applied for british citizenship on the 10nth of this month through post. Earlier today I noticed that they have deducted the naturalisation fee not including ceremony fee. I haven't received any mail from them stating if I am denied or not but Does that mean I was denied or do they just only take the naturalisation fee first then the ceremony fee?
