Refer to my post on "Naturalisation application processing timelines (only)" on Page 477 dated 19/02/2018

I received two letters both dated 14/02/2018 as follows:

Letter 1

"Dear Mr XX

Re: Mr XX & Mrs YX

We aim to process all applications within 6 months from the date submitted. However, in certain circumstances, this target is not possible. Following our assessment of your case, unfortunately, it appears your application will not be processed within the 6-month target.

This is because there has been an issue with the biometric enrolment of Mrs YX.

We expect to make a decision on your application by 7th March 2018 once your biometric enrolment issue has been resolved.

Yours sincerely

ZZ
CT4Home Office"

Letter 2

"Mrs YX

Case Reference Number NNNNNNNNN
Regarding Applicant: Mrs YX, P.O.B., D.O.B.

It is important that you read and understand this letter. If you cannot understand anything in it, please find someone to help you.

You must bring this letter, (which includes your case reference number, full name, date of birth) and the 2D barcode page with you when you go to Post Office. If you do not bring this letter with you, the Post Office will not be able to proceed with your enrolment.

Dear Mrs YX

REQUEST TO RE-ENROL BIOMETRIC INFORMATION

Thank you for providing your biometric information at on 11th September 2017.

I apologise for any inconvenience this may cause, but unfortunately, the biometric information process was not successful. Therefore you must return to a participating Post Office branch to provide your Biometric Information taken so that we can proceed with your application.

Next Steps

You must enrol your biometric information as soon as possible, which should be no later than 15 working days from the date of this letter. This will help us to process your application as quickly as possible. If you miss the 15 working day deadline, you must enrol as soon as possible.....etc. (Rest of the letter is about the biometric procedure.)

Yours sincerely,

PM Exceptions
Home Office

One Biometric Enrolment Barcode Page"

* Nothing was charged for re-enrollment of biometrics.

Hope it helps others
Further to completion of 6 months and based on the confirmation above that decision would be made by 7th March 2018, I called HO to check on progress yesterday. They took my wife's and my details and informed that would be getting a call within next 5 days.

I don't whether I will get a call or not, however, I did get following within an hour from "UKVIcontactcentre@homeoffice.gsi.gov.uk"

"Dear Mr XX,

Thank you for contacting UKVI Contact Centre.

Our records show your application has not yet been completed.

We are unable to advise when a decision will be made but you will be notified in writing once made. Until such time, we are unable to assist further. Should the caseworker require further information and/or documents they will contact you.

We are sorry we cannot be of further assistance at this time.

Yours sincerely,

UK Visas and Immigration

Please note, any emails received into this mailbox will be deleted and no action will be taken"

I guess this is HO's way of naturalising and teaching how to "KEEP CALM & ....... " Nothing would ever seem more amusing and frustrating at the same time after this.
Called them again yesterday on 03001232253 and got a callback within an hour. The lady confirmed that a decision has been made and I should get the letter shortly, didn't divulge whether positive or negative.

It has to be your local one unless you specifically stated in your AN form you wanted another venue. It is a long winded process to change ceremony venue.

Hello mate I had a gap between student visa and spouse permit about 10 months before my student visa expired by one month I applied for marriage permission which was granted 4 weeks after without any refusal after that I got married and I applied straightaway to spouse permit residence obviously things took time as usual so somehow they considered the time between my student visa expired and spouse Eu permit residence issued not legal although all this time all my documents were with the home office so they were aware of these gaps but in terms of refusals and appeals and all these sort of things I never got any refusal in my entire history what is your situation exactly?

Anyone applied 1st of December 2017 and still waiting?! I really don't have any idea how long would this take. 6 months??!!!, 1 year???!!!. 2 years?!!! How come some get it in 1 month and others should wait forever. At least they should tell you what is going on with your case. This is absolutely inhumane and unfair.

Good morning
Yes of course they will consider this illegal but don't worry you will get a quationare to ask you how did you maintain yourself during this illegal stay then what you need to do is to give them evidence that you never worked during this illegal stay and the only way to prove it is to show them evidence how was paying for your rent , bills, living cost, etc during this time so let's say your wife so then you need to give her payslips and bankstaments during this time or let's say you were self sufficient by using your own saving in your bank in your home country so evidence will be bankstaments and stuff like that according to your case I think you will get the same questionnaire don't worry you will be alright good luck

Hi guys (and especially gurus and mods)

Please could I get some advice.

Do you know of any cases which have taken more than 6 months and have had a straight forward decision. I'm now on 6 months, 15 days and have not had a decision yet. I recieved some generic letters saying that the application is undergoing 'good character checks' from national and international agencies and there's no time frame. I'm just worried that it will now be a long drawn out process. They haven't written to me asking for any information / questions or documentation.

I know some people get a letter nearer to the 6 month time, stating that their application is not straightforward (because of xyz) and thats why it will take longer. Or the HO asks for additional documentation / information.

Should I be worried? Or is it just a matter of waiting and seeing. I did email them a few times and asked my MP to write to them last week, but now wondering if that will make it worse? I seriously cannot think of why it is taking so long. My immigration history is fairly straight forward, Tier 4 (Student) > Tier 2 (General) > ILR and I have only ever studied or worked at the same institution (a University). Never had any immigration or legal complications whatso ever.

Any thoughts / suggestions will be very much appriciated.

same as you, my case is straight forward. I applied in May 2017 still not decided yet.
That's almost 10 months... crazy! :(

What is your immigration history? Did you have any communication with them? Do you have any inkling as to why they delayed it so much?

Received the "Citizenship Invitation" Letter dated 7th March 2018 from HO (contrary to the information given on phone call this Monday) and Citizenship Ceremony Invitation Letter dated 14th March 2018 from Buckinghamshire County Council for the ceremony to be held on 17th April 2018.
A Massive thank you to everyone involved with this forum. Sincere thanks to Indguru for allaying my fears at the time of making my application last year.

Thanks!

I contacted them on phone @ 03001232253

1st March 2018 (exactly 6 months from the date of application) and was informed 6 months start from the date of debit of fees.

7th March 2018 (exactly 6 months from the date of application) and was sent e-mail from UKVI, mentioned above in my post.

11th March 2018 and was informed as that a decision on my application was made the same day and posted.

However, the letter I received today had the date of 7th March 2018.

Hope it helps.

Hi all,

I am done with my ceremony and just wanted to give people some advice to not panic. As long as you have been honest and declared what you needed to declare on the application form if any and you have no unjustified illegal stay, etc., most likely the outcome will be positive. Just be patient!

I applied mid November and received my approval last week. I was just like you a bit paranoid and anxious, especially when people who applied a couple of months later than me say they got their approvals. But here I am, I myself got my approval! The whole process including the ceremony (a private one) took 4 months in my case...

All the best to everyone. Again, thanks to this forum which was very helpful throughout the process.

Hi guys,

i need an advice regarding naturalisation ...

the issue date on my ILR is 10-08-2017 ... but the letter which i receive with my documents states " Based on the information you provided with your application, the date on which you are deemed to have acquired permanent residence in UK is 08-03-2017’ ...

so does it mean i do not have to wait 12 months to apply for British citizenship ??? can apply now anytime after 08-03-2018 ???

does anybody had or having the same situation ???

any advice would be really helpful ...

thank you guys !!! :)
