Our both degrees are recognised by Point based calculator and we submitted the proof as they asked. I don't know why they are asking for the naric letters. I have emailed them with regard to this query. but before that do any one know the ukba number i can call and ask for the same. And do someone experienced the same problem....thank you....

Hi,

I received a letter from UKBA today that my naturalisation application is approved and i will be getting an approval letter to book an oath ceremony within 2 weeks. I am yet to travel to India on 15th March for 3 weeks and now I am confused if I have to travel to india before oath ceremony or after oath ceremony. If I dont get the approval letter before 15th march, can I travel to India? Can I book the oath ceremony from India? I have only 1 week left, so I am worried.

Could someone please let me know which is the best course of action?

Many thanks,
Sahana.

As far as I know you have to take the oath 3 months from the day you have received your approval.
I am sometimes wrong.

So can I travel in between approval and oath ceremony without any issues, will my ILR status still be valid?

Of course you can. Just keep in mind these 3 months as I think HO will revoke invitation for naturalization.

Hi everyone

I got some questions where senior members on this forum can help me on

1. How to pay for naturalisation as there is no payment page in AN form?

2. How many photographs I need to send?

3. I have been in this country over 10 years and been given ILR few days ago! However I got married 5 months ago. Can I still apply for naturalisation ?

For the last 5 years I had PWS 1.5 year and 2.5 TIER 1.

Would really appreciate your comments

Cheers

Sahana6 - to shed some light on what milan69 has said, yes you have 3months in which to book the ceremony however when I recieved my invitation letter, it said that I needed to get in touch with the council to book the ceremony within 21 days from date of issue. As I was on holiday by the time by letter came, I called the council from aboard to book for the ceremony on a convenient date after i had returned from my holiday. So I would advise that if you have the letter, call the council before you travel and book for a later date when you are back in the country to do the ceremony. The councils have a range of dates so you will be able to choose what suites you.

Hi nadeemiqbal,
1. You need to print out AN payment form yourself and fill it.
2. You need 2 photographs with your name and date of birth at the back.
3. You can apply for naturalization as a spouse of BC from the moment you are married to one.
I am sometimes wrong.

General Discussion During Naturalisation Application Process

Post by mptj » Tue Mar 11, 2014 1:28 am

Kindly advice:

I am on ILR and applying for ~Naturalisation so for English language can I use my IELTS certificate which is 05 years old and always been used from Tier-1 application until ILR (March 2013).

My spouse has done MBA from the UK so to satisfy English language, does she need to include original UK degree within the application or get a letter from NARIC or print out from UKBA calculator page 35 points).

Section 1.22 which option do I need to tick (including for my spouse)

Referee: Can I use NHS Doctors as referee (under professional category)

For my toddler over 3 yrs: I guess I do not need to fill any details concerning character.

I look forward to hear your kind assistance.

I don't think you can use NHS doctor as your referee.

Thanks Milan and Joy. Yes I received my invitation letter for oath ceremony yesterday. I am due to travel to India on 15th March. I will call council today for an appointment for the ceremony for the date when I am back in the country. could you please confirm there is no issue if I travel now to India between approval and oath ceremony. Since am not a citizen yet, i think I can travel now but do not want to take any chances, as I literally went through a lot for this approval.

Many thanks.

Of course you can travel, without a doubt. Also after your oath you can even get your British passport in India if you want.

Dear experienced members/ users

Please advice regarding my below queries, would highly appreciate your response. The key question is: I have my IELTS which i used for my Tier-1 and ILR so I will be using the same for my Naturalisation (I hope I am correct) and about my spouse who has done MBA from the UK what do I need to do? shall I just include the degree copy with the application or does she need to sit for English language test?

Best regards
MPTJ

General Discussion During Naturalisation Application Process

Post by immi900 » Sat Mar 15, 2014 5:43 pm

Hi all,

This is regarding new KOLL English Language requirement. Me and my wife got ILR last year and now in process of applying for BC. Before ILR, we were on Tier 1 general visa.

My question is - Is there anyway Tier 1 general main applicant can be exempted from KOLL English Language requirement? I am asking so on the basis of initial Tier 1 application approval letter and Tier 1 extension approval letter from home office, both of which say,

You have also been awarded 10 points as claimed for English Language and Maintenance (Funds) respectively.

Although couldn't find any section in AN form/guide to exercise such exemption, but still thought to ask if anybody used this fact.

Thanks

HO Contact Number

Post by alex_shvjac » Mon Mar 17, 2014 9:32 am

Hi all,
Just tried to call HO on 0870 number and the automated service advised me to call the new number which is 0300 123 2241 . I did so and having pressed option 2 all I heard was "The office is currently busy". Then the line cut off!
I haven't been given the chance to hold. This is ridiculous and absolutely unacceptable. You cannot find out about the progress online, you cannot call to inquire and if you do get through them you get false information.
What a rubbish service!
I applied on the 17th January and I know some people who applied after me received their letters already.

Congrats to those having received their approvals!

Hi,

Apologies if this question has been asked before, I couldn't find one with an appropriate answer. My question is regarding the KOLL requirement:
1. Life in the UK - I have passed this last year and do not need to take this
2. Knowledge of language - I have a masters degree from Scotland. How do I prove that it is recognised by NARIC?

EXCERPT FROM GUIDE

You will not be required to show a formal speaking and listening qualification if you have obtained an academic qualification deemed by UK NARIC to meet the recognised standard of a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree or PhD in the United Kingdom and either:
(i) UK NARIC has confirmed that the qualification was taught or researched in English; or(ii) the qualification was taught or researched in the United Kingdom or a majority English speaking country as listed below (other than Canada).
Please note that you still need to pass the Life in the UK test to demonstrate your knowledge of life in the UK.
If you need to obtain confirmation from UK NARIC that your qualification was taught or researched in English you should contact UK NARIC to request an English Language Assessment (ELA). Details of how to contact UK NARIC can be found at
http://ecctis.co.uk/naric/Contact%20Us.aspx

Post by pupun4 » Tue Mar 18, 2014 4:29 pm

Hi,

I have received ILR on March 2013 with my dependents. My Son did not appeared Life in UK test during my ILR application as he was below 18 years. I am planning to apply for Naturalisation now and would like to know whether my Son need to pass life in UK test as he is 18 now. He has done GCSC and A level in UK and got grade B in English in GCSC. Do he need to apply for English language test?

Please help and respond so that I can initiate next steps.

Cheers.
