Hi All,

URGENT QUESTION PLEASE:
----------------------------------

I applied for naturalization using NCS service but received a letter on 24th of March from UKBA to send the original passport. I sent that the same day and have not received any update form then until now,

I am worried around not having my passport with me, and not about anything else.

I've three questions:

1. Can I get my passport back without it impacting the usual processing - if yes, how?
2. How long it might take for them to send back my passport and will they send it along the decision
3. Is there a way to contact them and check the status (other than emailing them? )

Many Thanks

Hi,
I applied through the NCS last Wednesday 9 April 2014, on the basis of 5 years Ancestry + 2 years ILR. I have not yet had confirmation from the Home Office nor have they taken the fee from my account. Unfortunately due to family illness I have had to make urgent plans to travel next week. I have my passport so that is not an issue.
My question is whether it is appropriate to let the HO know that I am traveling, or whether it isn't relevant to them now that it is outside of my 5-year qualifying period.
Can anyone advise?
Thanks.

Hi,

I don't see a reason that you need to inform HO for your travel but as they may ask you to send a document whilst you are away, it might be good to tell them. But, if you have got someone at home to receive your letters and update you, it should be not be an issue, especially when they have not even started to process your application

cheers

It is irrelevant to HO now that you have applied.
I've traveled 3 times between submitting my application and receiving approval.
I am sometimes wrong.

Hi,

I have applied for Naturalization last week on an expired passport. I have no doubts or concerns about having used an expired passport.

However, due to changes in circumstances I will have to travel in July which means I either need to get my application approved, ceremony done, passport applied and have received the passport before that which seems cutting it too close. As an alternative option, I have been thinking about renewing my expired passport as that is fairly quick and straight-forward.

I have a couple of questions with this approach in mind.

Does anyone know if It is fine to renew my passport when my naturalization application is in flight?

Is there any other advice/options that can help my situation?

Your help will be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks

Vnadgir

I've emailed HO and they said: "A decision has been made on your application. I am not at liberty to disclose the outcome via email. The decision letter will be dispatched shortly."

After how long letter will be sent?

Hello Maximus,

Are you sure that this will be ok with and i need not to give the B1 test in this case ?

I have recently checked and my degree is recognised on the PBS calculator and it award 10 points for english for that to me.

Charu Malik

maximux79 wrote:Before taking B1 test , pls check if your degree is recognised in PBS calculator and also see if it allocates 10 points for english language requirement. If yes, they take a print-out and submit it along with your original degree certificate (should be in English). This would suffice and save money too.

Thanks

Hi Guys,

Just realised that when I submitted my application via NCS, I am not sure the officer made copies of my driving license to be included in my application (same document that I used for my life in the Uk test). What do you think are chances of any issues coming up with my application?

IMHO I don't think that it would cause any issues so calm down and chill :D

Hi,

Can some one advise .I applied for ILR under Tier 1 General on 14th Nov 2012 along with my wife and 3 children. There was complete silence from UKBA for 6 months. Then I had to approach them through our local MP , for which they replied with apologies for the delay ,ultimately we were granted ILR on 28th Aug 2013, with the laps of more than 9 months.
My question is can I apply now for Naturalization that is before my 12 months period which would be 28/08/2014 - taking into consideration the discretion of 15 months from the time of original application , where in the end the ILR was granted.

Secondly in my initial application of Entry clearance for HSMP in June 2007 , I satisfied my level of English by taking ILETS at that time. Do I have to take another Test(B1) to prove my level of English, or will I be exempted. I have already done my Life in UK.

I need advice regarding travelling out of UK after obtaining the naturalisation certificate but before passport. I will collect my naturalisation certificate next week at the citizenship ceremony but need to travel out of the UK soon thereafter and there is not enough time to apply for a British passport before I leave.

Can I travel on my current non-UK passport (and ILR card) and get back to the UK on non-UK passport even though technically I'll be a British citizen at that time? I intend to apply for my British passport as soon as I return

Hi all,

Has anyone got any knowledge/experience of what happens when you ask for the ceremony to be in a different place to the one you live. I have strong ties in another area of the country and want to do it there, but at the same time I cannot always travel. The question is: do I have the choice when the ceremony is or does it get assigned by the council?

Another question is, how quickly in comparison to the decision - whether positive or negative have you guys been receiving your documents back? What envelope does it arrive in and what address does it have on the back? Do they use signed for at all?
I'm going to be away for a few weeks in June and according to people's timelines and average processing times, the docs and the decision itself may arrive whilst I'm not here. Therefore, I'd like someone to be able to know that it's what I'm waiting for..

Any help will be greatly appreciated, thanks! :)
(Self application, EU national, long residence, LIUK test+UK degree. Applied 16/04, received 17/04, fees deducted 28/04, acknowledgment received 02/05 dated 28/04. No further comms made/received).

Hello
I'm applying for British Naturalization and have 2 questions:

1) For about 2.5 years I was sharing room with a friend who owned that house. I'm not sure if he included my in the council tax. Will this be problem for me for my naturalization? During this time I was constantly traveling to EU countries every week (Mon-Thur or Mon-Fri) for Business visits (less than 450 days). Now I'm paying council tax as I have rented a new plance since 1.8 years and also previously for 1.2 years.

2) I was a divorcees but married again now. I was divorced in India on mutual basis so no charges were against me and it was due to incompatibility.

Will these two factors affect my naturalization application?

I am hoping to get some professional advice here, I am very new to this forum so please permit if I have posted my question in a wrong place. I am hoping to submit my Application for UK nationalization in November this year. Here is my history, I am a spouse of a British citizen and married in Ireland, relocated to UK in August 2011 with two year spouse visa with KOL Stamp. I applied for my Indefinite stay after passing my Life in the UK test, I did the same day application for Indefinite stay at Home Office and was grated the same day 5th of November 2011.
I know I am not qualified for the Naturalization until 6th of November this year and need to pass B1test.
My only worry now is that, I was arrested by police and accused of carrying two stolen phones, although I knew it was a lie but after a week I received a letter that my case had been NFA'd due to lack of evidence. I later went there to collect my phones without any issues.
My question is:
1: Can my application for naturalization be refused because of this?
2: Do I need to declare it on the application form? (I applied for a Enhance CRB after the incident and was clean)
3: Here are the list of the document I am planning to submit with my application:
a: Marriage Certificate
b: My wife Birth Certificate and Passport
c: My Passport covered the last three years
d: B1 Test result
e: AN Form
Please have I missed anything out from the list?

Than you all for your advise in advance.

Hi all,

Need of an urgent advise from you, would really appreciate your response.
I am applying for Naturalisation in two weeks time and I have few qquestions with regards to completing the form, please let me know if you have any details. Firstly, I have came in the UK initially in Sep 2004 on student visa, then i got HSMP in July 2008. Secondly I have done my Masters from London South bank University which is listed on PBS calculator but not sure if i need to deem the Enalish qualification from Naric on this basis as the form doesn't have any relevant options to select and i am confuse. Please help.

Q1: From below what option i should be chossing under section 1.22 of section KoLLUK
> I hacve a speaking and listening qualification in English at B1 CEFR or higher, or an quuivalent level of qualificationl OR
> I have obtained an academic qualification deemed by UK Naric to meet the recognised standard of a Bachelors or Masters degree in the UK and:
>> UK Naric has confirmed that the qualification was taught in English; Or
>> the qualification was taight or researched in the UK or a majority English speaking country
From the above options which one i should be chossing and do i need to deem my qualification from Naric even though its listed in the PBS calculator for teirs sections?

Q2: Date and place of first arrival in the UK section 2.1 what is the date i should be entering here Sep 004 on the basis of Student or July 2008 on the basis of HSMP?

Please do responsd as that would really help..... thanks in advance.

Answer is there. You should choose => The qualification was taught or researched in the UK or a majority English speaking country.

First arrival of the country is, when you first entered in the UK regardless of what visa you were in on that time.

Hi all,

I am a newbie here. I have a question regarding my BC application. I am French and I have been living in the UK for 13 years now. I got married in 2008 but sadly my husband passed away after 2 years of marriage in 2010. I have been in the UK since but I am not sure if I am still considered married and therefore need to justify of my absences for 3 years as a widow or back to a non-married applicant and having to justify of my absences for 5 years. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Sorry about your loss. For the purposes of the form AN, you're married - so you should tick "Widowed". About your eligibility criteria, you can ask UKBA.. use the contact details:

Citizenship and nationality enquiries
ukbanationalityenquiries@ukba.gsi.gov.uk
Telephone: 0300 123 2253
Monday to Thursday, 9am to 5pm
Friday, 9am to 4:30pm

All the best.

Quick Question:

I have a CCJ that was issued to me in 09/2009 about a parking ticket and just detected that about 8 months ago when I wanted to send my application in. I was told by the council agent that I should try and get that paid or settled. Even though I was not the one driving the car at that time, I was the registered keeper of the car thus why my name was on the CCJ. I have called the court Northampton CCBC to enquire further and was told to contact the company that issued the PCN. I got in touch with the company and was told that the parking company does not exist anymore and they could only find the car registration number and nothing more so they are unable to take payments. It was £164 for the CCJ. Since the court and the defunct parking company are unable to take payments and I am in the middle of this mess, the Council agent called the home office and enquire more about and she asked me to send it and put note about it. I have also contacted the court again and was told to write to mcol@hmtcs.gsi.gov.uk to put the file before a district judge. Even though it will be 6 years next year to be written off, I am a little bit worried LOL. Does any one have any experience about this kind of issues or something close. Advice welcome.

Hello everyone. I am a newbie in this forum and badly needs advise. I have applied naturalization on the 2nd July and got my acknowledgement the 10th. I havent used Ncs which i think is the gravest mistake ive done. I have submitted my documents through post without properly understanding the guidance for the requirements needed.

So the thing is, i have supplied my Life in the UK test certificate but i didnt have any Language Test in my application. Later on did i realize that Language test is needed through reading forums.

What could be the best thing to do? I am aware of the long delays in processing so i was thinking of taking the ESOL test asap and send it through as a supplemental document for my application.

I feel like banging my head as the money that we all paid is no doubt not a joke.

Any reply about this would be most appreciated

ILETS is your ideal option because the results are much quicker than ESOL. Check Cambridge English website for more details. the Home office requires B1 level in English

Good luck
