It looks like that HO has stopped sending email approval.

Last approval reported on this forum was on 25 August.

Has any one received an email confirmation about citizenship application since 26 August?

I think you are right . My friend received letter few on 4 September. He got his approval in 10-12 days . I’m waiting since March ..

I've been waiting since April, no letter. My council restarted ceremonies in July. Submitted a complaint to the HO in August, the response was the standard text that letters should arrive within the next 8-12 weeks. The response didn't contain any specific information about my application, in particular, they didn't confirm whether or not the certificate was printed and the letter sent, but they asked not to contact the councils and also not to contact the HO with requests to attend a ceremony in a different council..

I tried calling home office again this morning as the last time (31/7) I received the generic email which said some applications take longer. They are not helpful in giving any information on call. Any other ideas how to seek an update as I applied on 27th Jan with still no news about my application. I emailed furthernationalities mailbox too and got generic response.

The only issue I see with my application is that my ILR etc had PBS listing my university to prove the degree. This time I did B1 test rather than getting NArIc certificate. Would it be an issue??

Hello everyone,
I'm trying to stay calm but after 11 months since my application (October 2019) and I haven't yet heard anything back from the HO other than an email at exact 6 months that said my application was delay because of Covid.

I tried to email and called but no one is getting back to me at all.

I've tried asking my local citizen b. but they told me the HO is not open and they can't help.
Any suggestion on what I could try next? My Italian passport is also expire now but the consulate is only processing emergencies so I'm stuck.

Thank you in advance for any suggestions.

There are applicants who have been waiting since February 2019 and possibly even earlier.Naturalisation applications take as long as it takes.

And if you read the rest of that thread, you will see that even once approved, there is a backlog of the citizenship certificates being printed and then a backlog of citizenship ceremonies taking place (which depends on the local council where you live). There may also be delays in the issuance of a first adult British passport, which generally takes slightly longer than a passport renewal anyway.

Thanks Simon, I lived in this country since 2001 and I no longer have an ID card, so can't do that.

If I could do that then I'd just renew my expired passport, right? and I wouldn't be here asking for suggestion...
Thanks for your help anyway, appreciate you taking the time.

I applied on 17th of Feb 2020 and still waiting.
I tried to chase several times but every time i got response that your application is still in 6 months period.
I emailed them after the expiry of 6 months and got that reply

Dear

Thank you for your email of 13th August regarding your application for British citizenship. Please accept our apologies for the delay in replying.

I can confirm that your application is in the process and that decisions on applications are usually made within six months.

I am sorry if your application is taking longer than usual to be processed. As you may be aware, naturalisation is not an automatic process, and we have to make a number of enquiries to ensure that applicants can satisfy the statutory requirements. Some of these enquiries are carried out by external agencies on our behalf and can sometimes take longer than six months to complete.

The Home Office will endeavour to process applications as quickly as possible but in the current circumstances, applications will take longer than normal to process, including applications for British Citizenship. If you have submitted an application and are concerned about missing a deadline to enrol biometrics, provide additional information or take a citizenship ceremony, please be assured that extra time will be allowed, and applications will be held open during this period. No adverse decisions will be made on applications because of delays caused by Coronavirus.

Please be assured that as soon as we are in a position to reach a decision, you will be notified accordingly.

Yours sincerely

I am on the same timeline and received almost identical email after sending a chaser. not sure what those agencies are but my guess is "good character" checks?? they are happy with basic requirements but dont like something in my past and want to know if I am worthy of the privilege?

Hello BoyTed
Thank you for your information. So HO doesn't follow its own guidance &can grant or refuse nationality to anyone they want .Rules don't make sense.Good for those who get granted but a nightmare for those who get refused on overstaying &working illegally or those who don't apply in fear of losing money due to confusing rules. Some cases like yours have a little hope for Overstayers if they want to take risk.Goodluck in future.
Morning to you all,
I want to try my luck with the naturalization but under good character I'm not qualify as I have been an overstayer before.

I have seen on this platform the questionnaire the HO send to people. If I complete the main form and use on extra paper to explain all the questions, with some supporting document from 2007 to 2014 that I was first regularised, all the addresses I have lived, letter from people that have supported me and I have never worked within that period, bills can be provided and was paid by the person assisting me. I also enrolled during that period to Pearson to study Computing but can't continue I didn't have sufficient fund. I can provide all these letter even from Pearson confirming my enrollment. Any advice from you guyz?

Hi,

I have recently submitted 'Naturalisation' application and uploaded my documents on UKVCAS portal, also will be attending the bio-metric appointment next week. However, when I completed my online application, I did not have the details of home office references for my previous extensions (got ILR via Tier 2 ICT route) but I have now managed to find home office letters for last 2 extensions and ILR confirmation letter. Could you please advise what can be the best way to add the case IDs for previous extensions and ILR at this stage (I had provided BRP number as that is the only reference that I had at the time of filling up the form)?
As I understand, we do not have any option to update the form now, but now I am planing to either upload a covering letter with all the details or upload front pages of home office letters under optional document section.

Please advise on the best way forward.

Thanks

Got this email again after contacting over the phone

Dear Mr

Thank you for contacting UKVI Contact Centre.

We aim to process all applications within 6 months from the date submitted.  However, in certain circumstances this target is not possible.  As you may be aware, naturalisation is not an automatic process, and we have to make a number of enquiries to ensure that applicants can satisfy the statutory requirements.  Some of these enquiries are carried out by external agencies on our behalf and can sometimes take longer than six months to complete.

Please be assured that as soon as we are in a position to reach a decision, you will be notified accordingly.  You do not need to contact us again unless you need to report a change in circumstances.

UKVI is keen to continually review and improve its service to our customers. To help us to do so we would be grateful if you could complete a short online survey. Please access the survey using the following link:

Hello everyone
I am waiting since ...july-2017

This is what I get everytime I contact HO

Dear Mr xx
I refer to your e-mail dated e-mail dated 26th August 2020, regarding your application for naturalisation as a British citizen.

Unfortunately there is little that I can add to the previous letter sent to you on 27th April 2020 regarding your application.

Careful consideration has to be given to each application for naturalisation in order to ensure that the statutory requirements are met. The processing of a naturalisation application is not subject to time limits. The Home Office strives to decide applications as quickly as they can.

The progress of these cases is regularly monitored with the agencies carrying out these enquiries on behalf of the Home Office. It is only when the enquiries have been completed that a decision on whether citizenship should be granted can be reached.

As soon as our enquiries are completed, the Home Office will make a decision on your application and contact you immediately.

Yours faithfully

Hi all, I submitted my online application and now need to keep an eye out for available UKVCAS appointments.

My question is - if i quit my current job and be unemployed, will this impact negatively on my Citizenship application? Would I need to inform them of this employment change, if I leave the job, as in application I've entered as "currently employed"?

thanks

Hi all,

I applied and paid for my application on 19th of July however I received the acknowledgement email with case ID on 14th of August. isn't that a bit strange to get the acknowledgement almost after a month?

should I count the 6 months processing time from the July date or the August one?

Thanks a lot

From your submission date = application date - the acknowledgement, when/if received (next day, or later, or never sometimes), is just that.
